DCC Appreciation Thread...

You've seriously never stopped by there? Stop next time you're on 35, they kolaches there are amazing
I don't know much about this topic, but I'm with you, I thought they were sweets. Mostly from going to Czech Stop several times.

Also, I've never even heard of that tomato gravy stuff, much less eaten it. :shrug

Tomato gravy may be a niche kinda thing, but I have never ever heard of someone call something sweet a kolache. Not once in my life. It has always been a sausage in a breading type wrap.

One of the first links that came up in a search:

This says it's a pastry dessert filled with fruit, but some Texans started adding sausage or other meat. :shrug

The article mentions the West Czech Stop by name. :rock

There is a line wrapping around the store literally anytime you go there, Cotton is the first Texan I know that hasn't even heard of it

I guess West Texas isn't going up and down 35 too often...

If you like tomatoes, you would love it.
Not necessarily. I love tomoatoes. Can't stand this stuff. Something about the texture.

It's brown gravy or turkey gravy for me. Sausage gravy is good if it isn't overly spicy.

Yes and you have at least driven by it at least once to my knowledge. its about an hour and a half north of me on 35.
Must be a central Texas thing. I may have driven by it, but I have never heard of it. Oh, and driven by it would be on an interstate highway 30 miles from the actual town.

Cause that place is famous for the kolache.

No it's south of Dallas, about 20 minutes north of Waco
