Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

The reason for the "Blue jersey jinx" was because that was their away uniform... and since a greater percentage of their losses were away, there you go.

I think Landry/Schramm finally had enough of hearing about this after the 1980 NFC Championship loss against the Eagles. They wore a modified blue jersey against St. Louis and Washington in 1981 (no blue gap between the silver number and white outline) before going to the ones they wore the rest of the season up through 1995.

When did ppl start calling it the blue jersey jinx?

Definitely by 1980 when the Eagles made us wear blue in the championship game. Two years earlier, the Rams made us wear blue in the reg and post-season. No one thought to blame the jerseys immediately after SB V, so I'd say the late 70's is probably when it started.

I was going to say, I remember as a little kid the Cardinals making us wear blue and we always seemed to struggle against them even if we won the game. That may even have played into it a little.

Yeah, we wore blue there from 1973 to 1983. But they wore white at home vs other teams as well. This news blurb mentions the Cards.

I'm surprised those articles don't mention the Redskins making us wear blue at least some of the time. Was that only later? Maybe a Gibbs thing?

Yeah, started with Gibbs in 1981, but it wasn't a "screw Dallas" thing. He came from the Chargers and they too wore white at home.

It is settled.

For all 94 away/neutral site games from 1970-1980:
Blue Jerseys: 11-13 (46% Win)
White Jerseys: 49-21 (70%)

are you saying that prior to 1995, blue was never worn at home? That seems strange (25 years).
