Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

Herschel Walker Cowboys highlights. Too bad this guy was saddled with playing on shit teams for most of his career. He would have been mentioned up among the all time greats. Hated to see him leave Dallas since he was all we had back then, but will forever be grateful for what he brought back in return from the Vikings. Funny how he got to play alongside Dorsett during the first time he was in Dallas, then alongside Emmitt during the second.

Loved Herschel even before he was a Cowboy. That run at :38 is just ridiculous. Shame he used up so much of his prime in the USFL.

Yep. His speed and acceleration was just ridiculous for a guy his size. Of course, his giant shoulder pads made him look even bigger. :lol

That last play, at 3:17 was beautiful, too. Accelerating thru the defense after catching a short pass like that was crazy.

Beat run he ever had was versus New England in OT to seal it.

Wasn't too shabby in his second stint with us, especially as a returner.

Steve Pelluer really thought he could strong arm something? I must have not been paying attention then during my Landry grief period.

I totally forgot about Danny and Randy White being caught up in that youth movement.

Can't believe we suckered KC for a third and a fourth. The Whites saw the writing on the wall and retired. Too Tall should've joined them but he had a team record to pursue.

"Martin Caidin"... that always makes me laugh.

That was a pretty impressive haul for a guy like Pelluer.

That was one thing about the era that a lot of people fail to get.

I dunno if it was Brandt, Schramm or whomever. We made a living off of that in the 1970s.

We ripped off teams left and right for draft picks. He blew a shit ton of them. Stuff that would make you lose your mind today.

We ripped off the Oilers and Giants and turned those picks into Too Tall and Randy White. Then we fleeced the Seahawks for Dorsett. Good times. Brandt's a great guy but his drafts from 1978 onward mostly sucked. And if Schramm hadn't taken a flyer on Herschel, Jimmy's rebuild would have taken much longer.

I’ll never forget how excited I was when we drafted Jason Whitting in the third round.

Really lucked out he fell to us after dumbass Parcells passed on him in the second. And big shout out to Philly for taking LJ Smith instead of Whitten.
