One of my favorite nostalgic Cowboys memories was being 15 or 16 and watching us pull out that separated shoulder game vs the Giants in OT. Running full sprint a quarter mile to a friends house who swore the giants we’re gonna a kill Dallas just so I could rub it in.
I remember being so bummed when Aikman threw an interception vs Buffalo in the second SB because for some reason it was so important to me then that he match Montana’s record of four SBs without an int.
I remember faking a sickness during our 5-11 seasons just so I could stay home and watch us vs the 9ers (may have been the Teague hitting Owens game, in hindsight) instead of taking my then girlfriend out for her 21st bday.
I remember thinking Dave Fkn Campo would get us to a Super Bowl after we won the offseason, signing Kevin Hardy, Bryant Westbrook, and LaRoi Glover. Pretty sure we opened that season losing to the expansion Texans and Westbrook was cut immediately.
Or even more recent at the tail end of the Cowboys fandom - I remember being in disbelief as Dez kept falling to us, watching the draft at a buddy’s house and when we selected him just shooting my arms in the air and acting like we just won a game.
I remember how geeked I’d get for games. For 1pm games how if drive to church separate from the ex so I could leave immediately - grab some shitty Taco Bell on thr ride home - and rush to catch kick off.
How id have so much nervous energy. Pacing around the living room. Pausing thr TV before big plays and doing push ups or whatever. Yelling at the TV etc.
I used to love being a fan. But I just don’t get into anything like that anymore. I love college football and root for Tennessee but I don’t even get into them that seriously. Nothing about the nfl really interests me anymore
