Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

With today’s uniform materials and dyes improving throwbacks like Patriots, creamsicles and Seahawks, I’d really like to see how our 80s/early 90s blues would look today

Yup..... I've been saying that for years.

Do I have to tell my Herschel Dallas Times Herald track meet story again? :unsure

I forget sometimes just how fast Herschel was.

When was the last time we threw to a back as the first look in stride by design on 1st down?

We only throw to backs as a checkdown.

Mix in one of these and the defense has no idea what to expect

Nobody was supposed to say that... :unsure

But really, not a great story, just that I saw him there in 1986 running in the "Pro Football" 60m at Reunion when he was in the USFL... Just pretty unbelievable seeing someone in person who was that freaking big and that fast. AI says Darrell Green barely beat him, but they ran faster than the actual track competitors which included Carl Lewis who came in second. Doug Donley of the Cowboys was also in the Pro Football race.

What I didn't know until I AI'd it was that when he was still at Georgia he ran in that meet three times, and in 1983 ran a 6.12, second just behind Carl Lewis. Unreal at that size.

Did you get to at least give him a knowing nod as you walked past him?

Gil Brandt once said that Herschel and Earl Campbell are the only 2 players he thought could've gone straight to the pros from high school. I thought Jim Brown had said that but Grok says it was Gil.
