Not sure about that... I seem to remember Phyllis George interviewing him when he was a jr/sr and called him DORsett and he didn't correct her. Could be wrong.
Myron Cope was a Pitt guy and he said DORsit... you'd think he'd have heard if Tony didn't want it said that way.

BTW, funny that back then he's got a cigar in his mouth on TV.

Per Google AI, Tony Dorsett actively changed the pronunciation of his last name during his college years at Pitt, requesting it be pronounced "Dor-SETT" (accent on the second syllable) rather than the original "DOR-sit" (accent on the first). He initiated this shift around 1976, and the "Dor-SETT" pronunciation became standard throughout his professional career.

That is exactly how I remember it. Some of the older announcers stuck with Dor-SIT until he made it a point and Cosell made it stick.

For all the things we talk about with this team, it's no coincidence that the last time we won Superbowls was the last time we had a truly blue chip QB.

Also, Theesman is an idiot saying taking Aikman was a mistake. :doh

I actually do think that's a coincidence.

If "you know who" can win a super bowl (or Darnold), we've definitely had good enough QBs over the past 20 years to do it.

Coaching on the other hand...

Nick Foles and Jalen Hurts?

Fair enough, but I think only a top-top QB can overcome Jerry's influence.

Imagine if we'd taken Rodgers instead of Marcus Spears...

And if Dak won a Superbowl he would be viewed as a bluechip QB. The real knock on him is that he doesn't have post season success.

Those were the very early Jerry days. And Jimmy was his buddy.

Jerry's influence is way different in today's NFL. The NFL was also way different back then. The talent gaps between teams were different. Now days you can't just out talent everyone else in the NFL. Culture, coaching and things like that are the differences between teams more so than "talent". The league has just changed so much since those days.
