Nope, injuries and short contracts have changed the NFL landscape. Hell most players don't even want to sign anything longer than 4 years anymore. And with the cap as soon as a guy gets older he isn't playing up to his contract and he moves on to another team. It's unfortunate but that's the way of the NFL today.

Free agency is what caused this change more than anything.

It’s the world not just the NFL in the terms of loyalty …players won’t sign long term contracts and won’t stay loyal to one team in case shit goes sideways … same as the real world … everybody keeps there options open because companies treat you like number …today’s NFL has changed just like the outside world … it’s a fuckin shame

The week leading up to that game, I was nervous as a whore in church. Not because of the talent of the niners. Not because of the talent on the Cowboys. But because of the condition of that swampy field. Us being a turf team, that muddy mess scared the shit out of me. I had little doubt that we would beat the niners head up on a good field. But being denied the super bowl because of a weather front that came thru? oooooh shit. I was not prepared for that.
 
I was on my first underway at-sea period on Theodore Roosevelt off the Virginia Capes trying to pick up the game on the radio all afternoon in our division supply office and finally picked it up when Kenny Norton picked off Young. I was nervous as hell when they stopped Emmitt on 4th down and drove for the Rice TD, but holy shit I was a happy mf’er when Harper hit the big one.
 
In all the hundreds of times I've watched that play, I'm not sure I ever noticed the Niner sideline person (chick?) in the foreground at 0:36 putting his hands on his head in total despair knowing they'd just lost. :laff
