Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

The Beautiful Harvey Martin radio show would have been funky to listen to.

I think the play he made in Dallas I think it was '79 or '80 against Philadelphia when he ran down Scott Fitzkee was probably one of the top 10 greatest plays by a defensive tackle in history.

Greatest game ever.

The game that essentially defines what the NFL is, or... was, anyway. What it should be.

If someone has never seen football before and wants to know why it's so good, you show them that game.

The two best teams of the decade in possibly their best iterations of the decade, at the peak of the NFL's intrigue. Before it got watered down, before it got wussified, before free agency killed off great teams, but the culmination of everything the 80s built towards and the 90s perfected.

In one game.

And if the Dolphins had managed a half decent effort the AFC Championship game that year would have been it's counterpart.

Yeah I feel like an old man when I say this but the NFL just isn't the same anymore. And not just because the Cowboys haven't been on top. But because it really just doesn't feel like there are special teams anymore. There are special players. But not special teams or dynasties. Yeah the Patriots won a bunch of Superbowls in a row but it felt like it was Brady. Which is why you don't see many counterparts.

Sure the Cowboys and 49ers had great QBs, but they also had great teams. And there was more than one. Now days a big matchup just feels like two special QBs going against each other.

The watered down product has more mass appeal. But for someone like me, it doesn't feel as special anymore. Even if we somehow found a way to win a Superbowl, it wouldn't have the same feel as those Superbowl teams had.

It's not old man syndrome. Sometimes things just decline, like in this case.

The best ever broadcasting team in Summerall and Madden

The only thing that makes that game more epic is if Montana played behind center.

Fast forward to the second half after the sun sets. Those blues are beautiful under the lights. To have colored numbers on a colored jersey is rare, distinguishing them from our current roads

Emmitt’s first game back after holdout. Weird that Cowboys were 0-2 when everyone’s grandma could’ve run behind that O-Line
