Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

Agree 1000%.

I think we beat the Bears and go to play the Saints in the championship game at least.

Parcells was partially to blame for playing that game too close to the chest though, cause we should have broken it open earlier and went conservative.

But yeah I think it broke him mentally which is too bad because if he comes back for one more year we probably go 13-3 again and probably avoid the letdown to the Giants too. And then perhaps avoid the whole Wade/Garrett regime.

I agree with all of this.

Parcells absolutely approached that game way too conservatively and it made it closer than it should have been.

I too think we beat the Bears and go on to play in the NFCC and I can't see Parcells not returning for 2007 if that's how things would have unfolded.

That loss was a brutal one.

Certainly by age 8-9 I was having arguments with friends in grade school.
At that age, I definitely was. Arguing football with retarded Vikings and Cornhusker fans was definitely an eye opener for me.

Im thinking by the time youre 8-9 yrs old, the Jimmy roster and dynasty was probably peaking.

Yeah I remember the 1992 season quite well.

1991, I only remember one game, and that was the loss to the Lions in the Divisional round. Don't even remember beating the Bears the week before. I must have been too young. In fact I really only remember just being down big to the Lions and seeing that the Cowboys were getting destroyed. I suspect my dad, who is how I became a Cowboys fan in Pennsylvania, was watching and I just remember it being on.

Somehow between just the recollection of the loss to the Lions in 1991 and the start of the following season, fall 1992, I became a mega-fan, at least for a kid. I would have been only 9, didn't turn 10 till spring '93.

I don't recall watching every game that '92 season - living in PA, back in the early 90s, we didn't get every game, there was no satellite or direcTV, couldn't go to bars as a 9 year old... and of course couldn't stay up late for all the late games... but I have good memories of many of the games.

I remember being aware of beating the Redskins to open the season. I REALLY remember that first MNF matchup against the Eagles where we got blasted. I remember the lead up arguing with all the kids in school who of course were all Eagles fans. And of course having to eat shit the next day after the Eagles had won. I had the Cowboys starter jacket by that time.... unless maybe I got it that Christmas?

Trying to think of other games I have recollections of.... I remember beating the Eagles 20-10 in the second matchup that year... I remember listening to the loss to the Redskins late in the season where we fumbled late. I remember the win against the Falcons where Wade Wilson was the QB for Atlanta. I remember the win against the Eagles in the divisional round more strongly, and I REALLY remember the Championship Game and the Super Bowl, but that is probably influenced by the fact that we taped them and I watched them repeatedly on VHS over the next few years.

By 1993 I really was following every week. I remember being despondent when they lost to Buffalo in Week 2, we had just moved into a new house at that time too.

I was at that Buffalo loss, Emmitt holding out and Haley putting his helmet through the wall in disgust. The road to repeat was bumpy.

Lin Elliott's last game (thank God). I hope Lassic didn't get a ring that year.
