He was actually a solid player and he left just as he was entering his prime.

He went on to play 2 really good seasons in Tennessee before he got hurt and his decline began there.

I remember when I was a kid in the 90s, I used to watch the replay of of NFL Primetime on ESPN on Sunday nights.

It always came on around 10 pm or so and it was always followed by old NFL Films highlights. I distinctily remember the intro had Joe Montana yelling "Black 59 Razor" in it.

I used to stay up past midnight watching this and it led to me always being sleepy as shit at school on Monday mornings.



Great memories.

I would say Kalas was the voice of the NFL for at least most of the mid to late 80s.

I watched that so many times before I got the opportunity to watch the game in its entirety again. They made a strong comeback, but it sure looked a little less furious than NFL Films made it look and sound like.
