It was funny how Landry had a disagreement with how he was supposed to run. He would run to daylight. Landry wanted him to run into the hole. His vision was quite good in that regard, but his speed back then was top tier in comparison to everyone else.

He would like have a hitch in his step where he turned on the turbos and it was over.

That acceleration was insane to watch. He'd set up gaps downfield with small movements and feints-- saw the whole field.

We never could quite replace the combination of John Fitzgerald and Herb Scott once Fitzgerald retired and Scott, who was an All-Pro, started getting injured. The "Four Irishmen and a Scott" OL were no more after 1980 and Scott had his best season in 1981.

But the blocking fell off sporadically and then big time for Dorsett by 1984, but he still cranked out 1000 yard seasons on limited carries outside of the strike season.

Landry changed up the offense in 1985, shortening pass patterns for an aging Danny White, which distributed more heat off Tony and revitalized his career. Then Herschel blew the doors off in 1986 and Dorsett's solo days were over.

Jim Cooper fucking sucked. I saw LC Greenwood throw him into Dorsett on a run play, and a year later he got Danny White creamed in the NFCCG at Philly, resulting in a fumble.

You might say the other guys kind of covered for him til Fitz retired and Scott got banged up.

And I forgot about former 1st round pick Robert Shaw, who himself got endlessly injured and was supposed to be the new Fitzgerald.

I randomly ran into Jim Cooper at a restaurant as a kid (he's from PA). Nice guy. Gave me and my brother signed pictures of him, which I believe I still have somewhere or other.

I thought it was when Paul Hackett got there in 1986 that they changed the offense to short passing routes. '85 seemed like it was the same as previous years.
