Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

I couldn't give one shit what color uniform they wear. Not one.

Jerry would kill it in sales if they even went to the (jinxed) Navy blue uniforms with the serif numbers like they have on the throwbacks, but his aversion to anything pre-1989 prevents him from doing it.

Players come and go. The only thing that remains consistent is the laundry. So yes, unis are important.

They're absolutely important.

Uniforms are part of a teams identity and history.

It would be stupid if every team in sports went out there in the same generic look.

So maybe you don't care if the socks have 2 stripes or 3 or if the shade of blue is too light or too dark. Ok, that's fine.

But to not care at all about the look? That doesn't make any sense to me.

I've read plenty of people who became fans as kids because they loved the uniforms. If those uniforms had looked like today's awful Washington or Houston unis, would they feel the same?

Yup.

That uniform, specifically the helmet is why I'm a fan today.

Long story short, my dad came to this country from El Salvador in 1973 and my uncle right behind him in 74. They shared a tiny 1 bedroom apartment for a few years with a small 13 inch black and white TV.

They would watch football on Sundays because they didn't have much else to watch. Eventually they started understanding the game and liking it. And even though Houston had the Oilers, my uncle liked the cool looking helmet with the star on it so he decided that was the team he was going to root for, so my dad did the same.

A few years later, I was born into the fandom.

I do care that we keep the same uniform but bitching about the shade of blue on the pants is dumb.
