Chip Kelly was unable to pull off the blockbuster trade in order to bring his former Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota to the Eagles. But maybe he won’t have to.

So now that the Mariota to the Eagles rumors are dead, bring in the Kelly to the Titans rumors.

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, some people around the league believe that Kelly will be moving on from the Eagles.

This information comes at a time when the Eagles are in full-blown backpedal mode, for a couple of obvious reasons. First, they need to find a way to mend fences with Bradford, who undoubtedly realizes that he was nearly re-traded. Second, the next distraction for Kelly and the Eagles (and the Titans) will be the inevitable speculation — which already has begun in some league circles — that Kelly is destined to eventually become the coach of the Titans.

The move makes sense as this would be the logical way for Kelly and Mariota to team up faster than waiting for his rookie contract to be up.

Also as Rant Sports points out if things do not work out between Mariota and Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt, the reunion becomes more likely.

We know that Kelly offered up something to both the Titans and Buccaneers but the details of the trade were never released. A jump to the Titans might be the easiest move for Kelly in the end.

So, say he goes to the Titans, what a fucking mess he will leave behind. A mess which he created. That would be a seriously dick move.

Nonsense.

For this to be true, Mariota would basically have to be Kelly's twink.

Even Bobby Petrino would think he's a douche.

I would love that so much. I doubt it but you never know.

Funny thing is, Kelly said a couple things the other day. He said (paraphrasing): 1. You need a franchise QB to win, 2. The only way to get one is to be bad enough to pick in the top couple picks or get very lucky, 3. If the Eagles finish with a record that bad, he's probably out of a job.

It was almost like he was saying if they don't get lucky (presumably with Bradford), he can't win in Philly...

If he believed that, why would he have taken the Philly job in the first place?

And if you're Lurie, what exactly is your incentive here? I did everything you wanted, have you all the power, and now you want to leave?

I don't get it. Mariota worked well in his system, but it's not like he was invincible. So he's only a super genius with 1 guy as his QB? This ain't Brady.

Weird.

If Chip leaves the Eagles after wrecking their roster, the Titans would be the dumbest sons of bitches in the world to hire him. What about his resume would make him worthy of another NFL job?

And, what reason would they have to can Whisenhunt for working to improve that team?
