I'd be thrilled with 4.5 ypc assuming he's the lead back. I don't think either of those things happen for any appreciable length of time though.

If so, sign Chris Johnson. He's worth a look. Hell so is Ben Tate at this stage.

I am just so depressed about the RB position it isn't funny.

We have so much mental capital invested in complete wastes like Randle, McFadden and Dunbar, we cannot allow them to get by on the Jerry scholarship.

The guy just got shot, I don't think anyone is clamoring for his services.

Sign him to a team friendly deal.

Hell, we just flushed some money away on Williams.

They cannot get complacent here.

They have to get it right.

They have to run the effing ball. Effectively.

Not just think because we have a kick ass yee haw OL that it will just happen.

The back has a role in it. Murray may have left "meat on the bone" but he worked at it. He had chemistry with these guys.

We can't afford to rely on proven unreliable players like Randle and McFadden.

Agreed on all counts. At the very least Johnson can split carries and give them some decent runs. He's not the player he used to be but I think I would trust him more than the other 2 stooges.

If all things are equal, maybe that's true. But I'd take talented and tired legs over mediocre and fresh legs.

And apparently the Cowboys agree, because they played talented and tired legs in Murray over fresh and mediocre legs in Randle all the way to the bitter end last year.
 
What I don't get is that Dunbar, McFadden and Randle seem to be basically the same type of back, why not keep the one that gives you different tools to work with...

You're missing the point. You're the one who brought up diminishing returns. I'm simply saying that's the case with basically all RBs.

No point in getting in a Murray vs. Randle debate.
