So if I were the Vikings I'd only trade him for an exorbitant cost. He's under contract and getting 12 million dollars.

The name of the game is winning. If I could trade him for anything of value as the Vikings I would. Even if he plays for the team they won't be ready to contend for at least another year. Right. It's easy for fans to take the moral high road and say they'd suspend a player, or whatever. When it's a billionaire owner who stands to lose a lot of money, it's a different story.

yeah if I'm the Vikings I'm trading him for whatever I can get. they already have a young quarterback. And now we have a running back rich draft. cut ties with the 30-year-old that doesn't want to be there anyway, and draft another guy that you can move into the future with.

Professional teams can't be in the business of caving to children-- there are way too many of them in the NFL and there is no end in sight. You can't pretend that a naked grab for more money isn't at least part of Peterson's pouting.

Besides, they can't get what he's worth to them or even the cap space his signing bonus acceleration bonus eats the instant he's traded.

No, Adrian's the one who whipped his own child with a switch, and he needs to get over his child self and be a man about it.

I don't think it's a matter of Petersen taking his existing contract terms and playing for Minnesota, it's wheher Minnesota will offer him a chance to honor it. He will not smell anywhere close to that elsewhere. If Minnesota offers it for him to stay he will jump on it quicker than a rabbit hump. Noone else will get close to that figure.

I think we are saying the same thing. Petersen will stay where he is if Minnesota decides to keep him. I am not so sure there will be a feeding frenzy to pay him 12 M if he is cut loose. Possibly someone would offer him 8 M on a short term basis but I don't think anyone will match his existing deal.

I'd have agreed before this offseason's insane frenzy. A ton of butt-average players got all-timer money, so I could see Peterson getting more.

I could see something like a 2 year deal that's heavy on incentives sort of like Hardy that pays close to 12 per year. Otherwise he is a 30 year old RB. No one is giving out a mega deal.
