Archer: Cowboys bring back Doug Free

I remember when the majority of the Board was ready to replace Free with any warm body available now his praises are being sung.:lol

This is a good deal but I am worried about him staying healthy a full season, a solid swing tackle is going to be a big need.

He had some seriously bad seasons in 2011 and 2012. The difference between him and a Miles Austin is that after he failed to play up to his contract he took a pay cut. I think that Free is a guy who's willing to accept criticism and improve, unlike most of the burnt out stars we've had weighing down the cap over the last decade, *cough*Brandon Carr *cough*

There were damn good reasons people were hating on Free. Don't act like there wasn't.

Right, but now Jiggy can act like he was ahead of the curve and knew he'd get right.

That's a good contract. We may still want to go younger in a year or two but this way our hand isn't forced one way or the other.

No reason to act I did get it right.:geek

And you were wrong while he was playing like shit. And he was. For a good two years.

I'm happy with that deal. Hopefully he stays at last years level and doesn't revert now that he has a contract again.

I think switching from LT back to RT messed with Free's head more than the contract.

Reports are 3 years, $15M, $6M guaranteed with a $3M cap hit in 2015.

Still waiting on Sportrac or OverTheCap to post the full details to find out if it's structured where he can be cut after 2016 without a cap hit.

This is a damn good signing
