I don't think you have to have a super duper head coach to produce a winner. You have to have one that knows how to staff people that can make you look good. That applies in many organizations. I have been a manager or supervisor virtually all my working career and i have found this to be true. If you get the right peiople and allow the staff to apply themselves chances they will make you look good.

The Parcells/Landry 3 year rule for players is arbitrary, and it doesn't always work, but I think it's a good rule of thumb. I think it works for coaches pretty well too. There's only so long a team can be expected to throw good money after bad.

Also, Marvin Lewis sucks. He's finally getting to the playoffs, WOO! His team folds like a wet napkin as soon as they get there. I wouldn't trade Jason Garrett for him.

He should've been canned a long time ago and gone back to being a DC. The Bengals are morons. John Fox has had far more success than Lewis and he even got the ax.

In the long term Marvin has maintained the mediocrity longer than Wade. But I think the the comparison still holds. Neither can do better than a little above average.
