2026 Training Camp Thread...

Better view of the Downs pick, I think this shows some of the nuance to what Parker is teaching that was obviously completely missing with Eberflus and his nursery rhyme defense.

From what it looks like the other 3 DB's (Bland, Revel and Clark) are all following guys in what looks like man, it might not be pure man, but that's how it represents within about 1.5-2 seconds after the snap. Barham also follows Blue directly out into the flat, which also looks like pure man.

But then in the middle of the field you have Downs (who was in the slot) and Thompson with Downs passing off a crossing Lamb to Thompson like it's a zone, then he falls off back to the middle of the field, sees Flournoy crossing into his space and drops back to make the pick.

I have no idea whether that's schemed or just something that Downs and Thompson understood between each other given the offensive alignment and defensive play call, but either way it's very encouraging.

Even that check back behind him was something you don’t see a lot of db’s do. I don’t know his responsibility there, but he looks back to check if a wr slipped in behind him, then immediately breaks on the pass in the opposite direction and picks it.

I just feel like he is seeing a different game than most defenders.
