2026 Training Camp Thread...

He loves his arm/choke holds
Opposing team coaches are going to remind the refs before every damned game, too

In the video/live speed, it doesn't look bad at all. The stillframe makes it look bad.

But I will say this, the NFL refs basically just look for any defender going to the ground and assume it's a hold. Sometimes you see legit pancake blocks (Tyler Smith) get called as holds simply because he knocks the other guy on his ass. So yeah, this is just bad technique by Guyton that likely leads to a holding penalty.

Yea it's laziness, he might be better but I can't see him being any better than an above average LT, which would still be a huge win at this point.

I think if healthy this is exactly what he is. I think he is an above average LT. I think he is a good run blocker and a good pass blocker who is probably going to get penalties because he gets lazy and takes dudes to the ground like you see in the image.

Steele is the one who really worries me of anyone on the O-line. That guy is slow footed and scares me that he will just let someone blow right past him. At one point I felt like Nate Thomas had the potential to fill that spot but he looks like he has gotten worse and has the same damn problem. I wish someone like Ahani Cornelius would step up and fill that role. WE have tons of young O-lineman because we always draft one. But they all seem to fail and move on.

Cowboy players get reputations overnight among refs. There’s gonna be no place to hide late in the 4th down needing a TD to win

The flags will kill drives

Refs have no idea how to officiate holding. You see some really egregious stuff never get called (Like Parsons coming around the corner every play and getting bear hugged by the OT falling down). But Tyler Smith throws a guy and they will call holding. I don't even want to talk about NFL officiating. It's just honestly so bad. It feels like it's whatever the ref wants it to be on any given day.

Maybe laziness, but I just see a guy with mediocre technique who is desperately flailing not to get beat.

Gassers?

Looked like a light jog down the field. Shit, remember when your coach would end practice running hills as fast as you could go? I sure as shit remember that.
Yeah, I thought from the start that's why this story was overplayed. Not exactly showing this intense devotion to conditioning when you just jog 50 yards.

Also, Schotty... Next time just say I'm the coach, you're the player. I watch, you run.

Hey, when I coach little league I like to have the 4 and 5 year olds run to the fence and back at the end of practice. I'll jog with them to make it more fun.

Oh yeah these are 22+ year old professionals...

So he ran with them. Big deal. I remember seeing clips of Jimmy Johnson running in practice.
