2026 Training Camp Thread...

Gotta think there's some legs to the Crosby thing.

They were rumored to be interested around the deadline last year, then supposedly thought they had a deal before FA until Baltimore upped the offer to two 1's, and now Jerry says they never lost interest.

Maybe the Raiders are embarrassed by how the Ravens stuff went down and refuse to move off of two 1's, but given all of that, and given that we supposedly offered multiple variations of a 1+more (Osa, 2027 2nd, etc.), you have to think conversations are happening one way or the other.

Very strange situation but you have to imagine the Raiders don't have any long-term plans for Crosby and that everything they're doing is just posturing.

Bob Sturm weighed in and said dealing for Crosby and his existing contract might make it tough to sign Pickens though. I’d rather Pickens.

To me, you don’t trade for a guy without a design for the next contract. If done, this is kind of either/or.

Yea that's something that definitely crossed my mind, that adding another big salary (although a very reasonable salary if you assume you're getting a top 5 edge rusher in the league) on top of a likely Quinnen extension, would make it even more unlikely that they keep Pickens.

We'll see, but given this FO's MO (i.e. being incompetent when it comes to strategically managing extensions) I think their preference is to trade for guys like Crosby that have a few more years on their deal so that they can maintain control and not have to deal with all the hoopla around trying to execute high-profile extensions.
