2026 Season | Week 6 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Cowboys @ Packers | 10/18/2026

I said it last week, but at this point I'd settle for Zimmer as HC and every coordinator and assistant a crotchty old fucker who's been in the league 30 years and doesn't give the tiniest shit if the players love them or not.

This idea of hiring a bunch of rookie and noob NFL coaches because of "youth" and "energy" has been an abject failure. These guys have no idea what they're doing.

I don't blame them for the Parker hire, there have been plenty of other hires that had a similar profile as him who worked out and went on to become HC's. Others don't work out and go back to being position coaches, it's a roll of the dice.

Plus they went the "established" route with Eberflus last year and we saw how that went.

My issue is more that you can just tell that Schottenheimer is a bullshit HC who is in way over his head, and that it's just a continuation of the bullshit we've seen out of Jerry for decades.

It's possible, I guess, that Parker turns to one day to be a decent NFL coordinator. But bringing in an entire staff of assistant coaches even younger than him on his first go was a terrible idea. I'm guessing he hasn't been around long enough to know people. Five years ago he was a QC coach getting coffee and doing cut-ups, for God's sake.

But yeah, Schottenheimer has lost everyone also. Nuke it all.

Also, I do wonder what Jerry is thinking. By all accounts he had to be convinced to go this route and let the head coach lead the coaching search, etc. Supposedly this was mostly Goof Son and McClay. Hopefully Jerry's lesson from this isn't to take back control and hire old cronies again.

Welp, the bullshit continued. I would fire everyone, from the HC all the way down to the poor bastard that does the laundry. I don't blame the players one bit. We have the talent. This is one of the worst coaching staffs I think I have ever witnessed. From top to bottom, get rid of them all, and start over. The entire culture needs to be changed, so this next coaching hire will most likely determine if a full team rebuild should be in the cards.

Can someone give me one single reason that Schottenheimer shouldn't be fired tomorrow?

The offense consistently comes out bumbling in the first half of games, he quite literally lost a game with one of the most mind numbingly idiotic sequences in this team's recent history courtesy of the HC, and the team is clearly unprepared and listless for the majority of games even coming off one of the most embarrassing losses in recent memory last week.

I'm fairly certain that we're still betting favorites to win the division but that would be the absolute worst thing that could happen, assuming it'd lock in another year of this horse shit. Schottenheimer is quite possibly the worst HC in the league and they needed to hire a babysitter for our retarded DC, and the worst part of it all is that the front 7 almost immediately looked improved after Pettine has been around for about 4 fucking days, which tells you Parker really is a shithead.

There is absolutely no chance I could stomach watching another season of this fucking mess.
Season? I’m not watching another fucking game

I'll say this, I think there's a chance Schottenheimer will get the boot at some point because it's just that terrible, in a year where Jerry truly believed we could make a run.

Sometimes he talks bullshit to hear himself talk, but I believe he actually believed that this team could do something. I don't think they'd be running around making trades like they have if they didn't believe it.

If we lose next week against whoever the Eagles are playing at QB I think that might be the final straw.

Besides that, I could easily see it happening at the end of the year if we go 7-10 or whatever.
Frankly I thought they could “do something” this year, which isn’t to say they could win a Suoer Bowl but I thought they could win 12 games if things went right. This was a very good offense last year and now Nimrod has not adjusted at all and everyone knows how to stop us apparently.

Caleb Downs: 7 targets, 7 completions
I mean, the b-word is in play here. The guy looks lost and he’s making literally zero plays in any phase of the game.

The Cowboys should have fucking cut Cobie Durant to let Downs have 2. Choosing 13 sealed his karmic doom as a disappointment. Who the fuck chooses an unlucky number?

Dak has been so bad lately, I feel like he's either doing dope or it's all just orchestrated entertainment for your betting pleasure.

I think he was just flat worn out against the Bucs after the Brazil trip and quick turnaround. This game he got hit hard in his right ribcage early. That had to affect his throwing somewhat.
