I like it.
One of the most interesting things for me in today's game is I think Sinner's career is kind of a glimpse into what Murray's career might've looked like if he didn't have to play the 3 best players of all time, all at the same time.
Murray made 11 grand slam finals, often times beating one of the big 3 along the way, but it was just too much to be able to consistently beat 2-3 of them in one tournament, and often times back to back. He still won three but if he only had 1-2 of them to contend with for a decade he'd probably be around 8-12.
He's also top 5 all time in 1000 tournament wins with 14, without having to play all of the big 3 at the same time he'd probably be somewhere around 20-25, which would be well beyond anybody in history except the big 3.
This isn't to say Murray is the 4th best player ever, because he isn't, but I think he'd be a clear top 6-8ish all time player if he didn't have to contend with them all in the same era, as opposed to someone who people have probably around 10-15ish.
All of that is to say that even though I think Sinner might end up with 10-15 grand slams, I don't think that'd necessarily mean he's a lock top 4-5 player all time. It depends on if any other clear top 5ish all time type players emerge in the next few years because that'd change the calculus significantly.
Alcaraz will go down top 5 all time barring injuries, but unless someone else shows up I think a guy like Sinner is kind of just cleaning up behind him in a somewhat weak era. It's hard to kind of reconcile the idea that a guy like Murray and Sinner aren't that far off talent wise, but one might end up with 12 grand slams while the other has only 3, but I guess that's just a testament to how unbelievable it is that the 3 best players of all time basically all coincided with each other for 10-15 years.

And fuck you very much to the rest of you.

Him and Chapo think it's good luck for them to talk about tennis in the chatter thread every game. Gay, I know, but let them have their jollies and scroll past it. We don't need trouble from the LGBTQUITENNIS community.
