because you win with an xp on the second score instead of tying and you still have a chance to tie with a 2pt conversion on the second score if you fail the first 2pt conversion.

Either way you have to get a 2 point conversion to win. Why do it on the first one? Then it forces you to do it on the second, whereas if you kicked the PAT you don't HAVE to go for 2 on the second one.
