Finishing second in MVP voting last year buys me a ton of runway on this

I mean it doesn't for me. Saying he got to the Superbowl last year and lost would probably carry far more weight than, he finished second in MVP voting. But as of right now he is a one year wonder who is off to an awful start to his season. It's game one and he has plenty of time to bounce back but last night was, forgettable.

Yeah but we know you aren't exactly an ace at evaluating QBs recently.

And that's dumb anyway... he had an amazing year last year.

You can continue to downplay him and look foolish.

Yes it's one game in which he played poorly.

Dak finished 2nd in MVP voting. That didnt seem to earn him much runway from you, Smitty.

It actually has.

I used to complain - correctly - that Dak didn't move the ball enough through the air. That used to be extremely accurate. It's not anymore.

My newer complaint would be, here we are at age 34, year 11, whatever... it's getting late. Not enough post season success... is he just not made for that moment? Can't write that off. And he's super expensive.

Drake Maye can't be put in any of those boxes. He's super young, has been to the Super Bowl, has come in second in MVP voting his second year in the league, threw for 4300 yards last year, and is on a rookie contract.

Clown take.

Fine, but don’t run into the tennis ball at the end of said runway.

What would "running into the tennis ball at the end of the runway" look like?

Drake Maye is an elite young QB. He's going to make many Pro Bowls and have many deep post season runs. Any of us in our right minds would swap him for Dak no questions asked at this point just based on age and contract compared to relatively close ability at this stage in their careers, alone.

Not saying he's Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. He's just about as good a young QB as you find in the league today absent being a Patrick Mahomes.

It was a dumb joke about a Babylon Bee article I posted earlier today about airports installing hanging tennis balls at the end of runways so women know when to stop.
