scary thing is even if we play a LOT better. We can easily be 0-4 or 1-3, a month into the season.

I'm not overly worried about Ferg because the offense should be good regardless, but he hasn't been good enough for quite a while and it's definitely time to move on as soon as possible.

Not many balls to go around when you have 2 posessions in the second half. Like that's comically bad. But also shows how bad the defensive game plan was.

This is basically where I'm at.

I think the offense will end up being fine but it's going to be a carbon copy of last year unless the defense shapes up in the next week or two, and against a more difficult schedule than last year.

I have concerns about the offense too.

Like, I watched the Bills vs Texans yesterday, and the Texans are a high end defense.

The Bills (and to spare us the recurring debate, I won't say "Josh Allen," so as to pin this all on the QB position) diced through that elite defense like melted butter. Guys like DJ Moore and Dalton Kincaid made deep, downfield play after deep, downfield play.

Where the fuck is our ability to move the ball through the air like that? We have, allegedly, the best WR combo in football.

How come all CD Lamb's routes were short and to the left? What the fuck is going on? Where is our intermediate to deep passing game?

Even if Pickens doesn't drop that ball that doesn't cure what I'm talking about. We supposedly have an elite offensive cast. How come it so often disappears?

I mean the defense needs to play a lot better or we are just in for a repeat of last year. That's all there is to it. The good news is I have confidence they will play better. But that's only because it would be hard to play worse.

Burns is overrated but good on Guyton for playing well, regardless.

I don't give a fuck about the fumbles. You're not forcing 4 fumbles a game so why am I concerned that the Giants recovered 3 of them?

I'm more concerned with the defense showing me it can get stops against a shitty offensive cast and it failed miserably.

We can blame the defense all we want. You have an elite offensive cast, supposedly, and you're an offensive ace as a coach, supposedly. We have the highest paid QB in the league.

We should have matched the Giants stride for stride.

You can say "this one is on the defense," but when the resources and cap dollars are committed to the offense, the offense has the obligation of outperforming the defense and carrying it, not merely being the unit that didn't lose the game.

People may hate when I say this, but it's because that's what Dak wants. The powers that be (Jerry) are not going to do anything not Dak-friendly.

I called this loss also, but I didn't think they'd look this bad.

For it to have been a loss at all, they almost certainly wouldn't have looked great, right? The Giants are not that good.

I'm not calling the defense a failure, but a work in progress.

They have to get more physical, they weren't ready for a physical game and that's largely on the coaches and GM who refuses to play anyone in preseason.

The offense straightened itself out after that disastrous ending to the first half. The Defense fell apart after that interception. The drive before they were finding their groove and attacking. That last first half drive they were completely discombobulated.

That's coaching, and that can be fixed.

We need a lockdown cornerback sooner rather than via next year's draft, because this team is not confident in their pass coverage and there was a clear domino effect from that.

They scored touchdowns on every drive in the second half. The offense will be alright.

They were supposed to be getting help from a defense that was "at least average" but was instead a discombobulated mess on many drives.

We saw flashes of potential-- the one drive where we got the sack and fumble recovery.

They have to realize that potential more quickly. They are one standout player away-- either at EDGE or CB or both.

That's the difference between 1991 and 1992. 1991 lost the opener to the eventual Superbowl champ. 1992 added Charles Haley and Kevin Smith, kicked that same team's ass in the opener and won the Superbowl themselves.
