I also thought a loss was very possible but I didn't think the defense would look just as bad as last year, and I didn't think the team as a whole would come out so lackadaisical and sloppy.

I think my biggest issue is that Schottenheimer just doesn't look like an NFL HC and as long as he's our HC we're basically treading water.

-Guyton and Steele looked half decent against probably the best edge rush group they'll face all year, not good by any means, but if they're just average NFL OT's the offense will be in good shape
-The offense overall looked like themselves in the 2nd half, not coming out going 3 yards and a cloud of dust would be a good idea
-Downs is legit despite the defense looking like a college group overall
-Quinnen Williams is still a stud

The offensive approach was odd to say the least.

I know last night sucked ass, but I'm willing to give Parker more than one game before I bail on him. And, I'm not saying that you are implying we should give up on him just yet, but there is chatter amongst the fans already, and they need to step back from the ledge a bit.

They were scared of the OT's ruining the game early on, which I get, but it was a little too conservative when you're on the road against a so so team.

I also have no idea why they never QB sneaked Dak. Multiple plays from the 1ish yard line were passes and the 4th down on the first drive wasn't even half a yard, just let your 230 lb. QB fall forward.

Everything was just disjointed to start thanks to our HC who wouldn't be a HC anywhere else, and never will be again once he's gone from here.

I agree that he needs a couple weeks as a grace period, which is why I'm not passing judgment yet. But it's very possible that he's a moron and a lemon based on last night.
 
Of course you give Parker more than one game, and he'll most likely be fine eventually, but maybe we can admit the truckloads of anointing oil were way premature.

I mean, it was a legitimate concern with the media around this team about who would replace him when he was inevitably hired away as a HC next year. Before he'd called a single game in the NFL.

I think he's just saying you have to start seeing results quickly, which is true.

I'm willing to give him 4 games to sort himself out, but after that if we're still seeing a defense that's bottom 3 in the league it's fair to consider that he might be a lemon.

Oh well, stupid penalties, caused I think 3 fumbles and recovered none of them. Miss a somewhat easy int. Dropped passes.

Bad luck, bad coaching, bad playing. Hoping this is the low point of the season.

I'm pretty certain their offense is average at absolute best but they were breaking off chunk plays on basic RPO's and swing passes to the flat like it's 2012 (or 2002), it was ridiculous.

If they play like that again, then it's a coaching problem. Tonight was worse than I expected, though.

Sham: There was one series with Singletary getting four plays in a row in the flat -- that's a mental thing, not physical. How many times did Jaxson Dart get out scrambling -- also a miscommunication problem. Coaches must've considered his scrambling ability

Sham: No doubt, that was the first half. Cowboys got bullied. I think Cowboys didn't think they could get bullied. I'll be shocked if we see that happen again.

You also know they are trying to learn a brand new scheme. You know you are going to be running a zone-heavy secondary scheme (which needs a ton more playing time to master). You know you are coming off arguably the worst defensive showing in the history of the league. And, you STILL don't play the starters in preseason. Unfuckingacceptable.

Shotty should be on the hot seat for that alone. Yes, I know a lot of why is because of pressure from Jerry, but it's your fucking job that is on the line. Grow some balls or GTFO. No other team is going to want a coach that doesn't do everything he can to win, up to and including telling the owner to sit down and let him coach.

Anyway, that's the thing I'm angry about most right now. I hope you guys have a great day, and go Cowboys.

Having a completely new scheme, a new DC, and that many new starters on defense, and NOBODY thought they should get real live action reps to prepare for the season?

And yeah, fuck Schotty......I know he's just happy to have the job but there is a way to talk to Jerry about the importance of making sure everyone is as prepared as they can possibly coming into the year, so I don't want to hear any BS on how he had to just go with what Jerry wanted.

Not playing these guys in preseason was a massive blunder.
