2026 Random NFL Stuff Thread…

He is one of the few assets they have, so I would do it.
At age 31 he needs to go to a contender willing to slightly overpay. A young team would normally build around a guy like this, but by the time they get good enough he will be even older and less effective.

(late) 1st round pick -- Only if there is a bidding war among contenders
(not late) 2nd round pick -- Fair value
(could be late) 2nd + Day 3 pick -- On the Nose (literally)
3rd round -- Not good enough, Tampa keeps him

I could see that last or second to last scenario playing out. I see him in the second tier DT salary range given his age, maybe 3 years 80 million with 50 guaranteed.

Tampa: 70% he prolly stays
Packers (great fit): I can't see them trading away more draft picks after the Parsons deal.
Bears (better fit): Slam dunk for Chicago
Bills (Bills NEED him): About as far away from Northern CA as you can get, may as well stay in FLA. Bills can't afford him, really.
Chargers: Also a really good fit, and aligns with Hairball's typical timeline. They signed Tomlinson, and with Vea too they could stop anyone.
49ers (he wants this): Maybe, but they just signed Osa and are developing younger players to whom he's maybe a progress stopper. Still, I could see it.
Raiders (ditto): He's too old for them and they already have a big old salary in Crosby
Giants: They need him but already refused to pay Lawrence, a younger player. Where are they spending their money?
Dallas: Too many mouths to feed between Dak, Lamb, Pickens, and Q-- and too much investment on an older DL. But if they could find a way-- holy shit!

Why are we the ones responsible for keeping him out of SF? And we don't need him. Certainly not at the cost it would take to acquire him.
We need him, but you are prolly right on the costs given the four big contracts we are looking at before we even have to pay a big time CB or Pass Rusher.

Seriously?

No we don't. :lol
We don't have a clear outside top pass rusher ready to play week 1, which is just as important as week 18, so pass rush help from a proven impact player, even if also coming from the inside, is huge.

Imagine the upside-- he's a major upgrade from Bullard, between him, Clark, and Williams you'll have no idea where the interior rush is coming from or be consistently able to stop an all-out rush.

Vea would elevate everyone in the LB corps and speed the development of the outside pass rushers even more because the offense would have to divert so much attention to stopping the three interior linemen.

And good fucking luck running up the middle

You want a top defense or not?

This guy cements the front seven, leaving our DC, a secondary specialist, to get the secondary playing well by years end.

Dak's window is now

He overlaps what we already have.

If we actually need anything, it's an edge rusher or a CB or an ILB.

Well OK, fair that is technically true, but I'd say he greatly reduces or even eliminates the edge rusher and ILB needs. Vea helps make Gary, and EZ into better rushers because the offense has to gameplan for both him and Quinnen Williams. With Vea and Williams, I don't think you need to pay star money on the outside.

What we need is an elite defense, and elite defenses need elite players (or elite depth).

But we'd have to find money for Williams, who's going to cost 35m per.

I don't think that's true, I think Vea would be a 30+ million redundancy on this team and handcuff us from doing other things. I think paying him a substantial top of the market contract at age 31 is quite a risk for any team and especially us.

Why?

You really think we're going to be able to trade for someone better than Durant?

Because I want to see the world burn sometimes.

But honestly I'm not sure I want to trade for anyone right now. Maybe pass rusher or LT but I want to see what the young guys have before we do something crazy like that. Those positions tend to cost a first plus more. And I love the draft way too much to want to do that.

Fags. If they believed in that blue collar bullshit, they would debut them to open their stadium.

:lol
