2026 Random NFL Stuff Thread…

Cincinnati is trying to win now and give Burrow some sort of a half decent defense, so I get it.

It might be a bit of an overpay but because of the weakness of the class I don't think it's insane.
They weren’t getting anything close to the finished product Lawrence is from this draft.

Speaking of, in case anyone didn't read it, the eagles are pursuing Greenard.

"The Eagles could be making more trades beyond any Brown-related move. League sources say that general manager Howie Roseman is plotting to make a deal on draft weekend. Roseman usually has a trick or two up his sleeve, and other front office executives suspect there's one coming this week.

One possibility is adding Vikings linebacker Jonathan Greenard, whom the Eagles have checked in on at various points this offseason, per sources. Greenard had 12 sacks in 2024, but he managed only three last season over 12 games, despite a solid 23.3% pass rush win rate. The Vikings have been adamant about getting a premium Day 2 pick for Greenard. Philadelphia holds pick Nos. 54, 68 and 98 on Day 2 this year.

League sources say the Eagles and Vikings could revisit discussions they already have had during the upcoming draft, but talks have lost steam in recent weeks. The Eagles' wish list of trade candidates goes well beyond Greenard, per sources, though."

The Eagles adding to their defense doesn't bother me, it was already elite last year and I don't think there's significant room for improvement. Trading for Greenard would just be a bandaid for losing Phillips to begin with.

The real issue is their offense is going to be shit without Brown and a declining Barkley, and probably toxic in terms of the jockeying going on with the new OC.

This is a really really bad draft to have multiple firsts and just keep them.
We get fucked when we trade for extra firsts. We either have a bad draft class or we fuck up one of the picks horribly like in 2005 when Parcells the bad GM had to have his new Leonard Marshall.

Or we trade away a high pick in a stronger draft for immediate help like we just did for Williams

We're not fucked if A) one of the top defenders falls to us at 12, and B) we trade down from 20 and add picks on day 2.

We almost never have extra firsts so not much history to go off of.
