2026 Random NFL Stuff Thread…

I'm surprised they'd want to trade him away being as he played well for them last season and it's not like they'd get a lot for him in return.
They might need him if Goodell suspends Nacua for the girlfriend thing.

~hysterical cackling~

Most of our biggest draft misses were because our dumbass scouts (led by McClay) completely whiffed on evaluating the off field stuff.

You could tell pretty quickly that Hill, Joseph and Mazi were some combination of flakey idiots, soft, not serious, etc., probably even Sam Williams too although he's at least been somewhat usable as a ST'er.

I think Guyton is sort of like that as well, not quite as bad, but he's much closer to them than he is a guy like Parsons who dicks around but is dead serious about the game.

I fail to understand that if you sit down and evaluate more on the person moreso the player, how can they miss so badly? Do they just overlook shit?

Yeah yeah, you were on Feldman’s freak list, but tell me how do you relate to females?

I'm guessing they have indeed just overlooked shit for various reasons, and that may be part of the reason that Schottenheimer is kind of overindexing on "football character", leadership, team captains and all that sort of stuff early in the draft.

Williams and Hill were both 2nd round pet cats for our favored DC's at the time, I bet they felt comfortable overlooking things based on the DC vouching for them.

Joseph, Guyton and Mazi to a lesser extent were all picks based on glaring needs, so I'm guessing they were willing to overlook some stuff because they just really needed certain positions at the time with big holes on the roster.

I think players can put on a good show when it comes to charecter. I think guys like Sam Williams and Hill actually sold to the coaches or a particular coach that they were going to work their ass off. But the history was there to an average Joe to see the reality. Sometimes a coach can get too close to a player to see what they really are.

I also wouldn't discount our fearless wildcatter GM's love of "potential" and the thrill of hitting the big one.

Yeah Jerry loves swinging for the fences. But we really just need to hit some doubles. Get guys that are solid and reliable starters. And some of them will still become studs.

Draft the Chido/Lewis types instead of the Kelvin Joseph types. Shit Chido is still going strong in the NFL. Lewis is as good as ever.

And Kelvin, well he is a rapper in some basement.

Heh. Marinelli had sleep overs with Hill and had a signed contract. Quinn got all touchy feely with Simple Sam.
