2026 Random NFL Stuff Thread…

Its dumb. Which means it will happen.

I hate it, gets too messy to keep track of.

Like NBA trades, I gave up trying to understand the intricacies of all the layered obligations that can span over half a decade and involve unpredictable outcomes. So confusing.

That's what I hate about the NBA Draft. Everyone has everyone else's first round picks, and all those first round picks have certain conditions in order for that pick to actually be transferred. It's way too complicated and impossible to fully predict.

Teams get excited for opportunities to make themselves better right away.

They won’t be able to resist trading away disproportionately from the future, just like they do when they borrow future cap space.

But unlike cap dollars, which are borrowed from the future at exactly the same value as they are spent today despite those dollars being worth proportionately less in the future, pick 20 overall in 2030 will be exactly as valuable to us then as pick 20 is to us today AND it doesn’t trade one for one. Pick 20 in next year’s draft is traded at the value of pick 20 in round 2 this year.

So you are getting shafted twice when you trade away future draft picks relative to borrowing from future cap to buy free agents.

This new rule if passed will be like giving addicts a new prohibitively expensive drug.

One should never do this unless a true franchise player can be had

TLDR
  • Australia game may open 2026 season on Wednesday, then traditional Thursday game. Prohibited from having Week One Friday game.
  • Streamers are bidding on Australia game. Peacock and YouTube aired the last two Brazil games
