2026 Random Cowboys Stuff Thread...

What do you mean? He always blames himself, to me almost to a fault. Sometimes the players or even coaches need to be called out.

That's because he's managed to fool you with his weasel talk.

Listen to him closely the last 2 weeks and you'll see he's throwing the blame all kinds of directions.

Huh? I'm not fooled by anything. I don't think he's a good coach, I think that's been obvious.

I also don't think he's solely to blame for everything. Plenty of players are to blame also.

Is this season worse than 2020? The interest gauge is almost on E.

Somehow last year didn't seem this bad, I guess because at least the offense was good then.

I think it's worse than 2020 for a couple reasons.

One, McCarthy had a track record that you could hang some hope on. You could believe that he'll hold up the offensive side and figure out the defense. Schottenheimer by contrast seems completely incompetent.

Two, it feels like they've already blown their roster management this offseason. They were as active in transforming the personnel as they've been in a long time and it didn't do any good. I can't imagine they'll double down and be even more active this offseason.

Three, the best parts of the roster seem like their time is ticking. Dak is rapidly aging and who knows how long he'll be still in his prime. Pickens feels like he won't be back and if history is any indication they'll lose him without maximizing his value. Williams seems like he took a big step back and there's no other reliable RB on the roster. TE is a complete mess. The defense is still a mess. And now they have dwindling resources with which to address all these problems and a collection of retarded coaches who can't maximize what they do have.

So, yeah.

I'm guessing we break out of the rut on offense. This reminds me of last year when teams like the Vikes sort of figured out how to screw with Schotty and the offense.

Me too. Simply too much talent there to stay broken forever, unless Dak somehow falls off a cliff.

But on the other hand, the last two weeks have been about as bad as I can remember. If they don't fix it in the next couple of weeks I think the players will let go of the rope.
