Pre-ACL it's definitely a conversation and probably roughly equal, but post-ACL it's a no brainer for me.

Of course nobody knew he'd get hurt when the trade happened but that's how it goes.

Apparently run defense went from 31st in expected success rate to 3rd after Quinnen arrived.

That’s immediate impact with no camp or coordination with teammates. Just coming off the plane and lining up.

He graded as the number two overall DT, and I’ll bet pressure numbers from the team greatly increased after he arrived as well, especially Osa’s.

The whole team must get better at converting pressures into sacks. We were near the bottom at that last year.

But we upgraded the DL depth improved coverage and added better pass rushers. I think we’ll see more sacks as a result and it all keys off this guy creating a major mismatch vs any single guard or center.

He’s not Chris Jones or Simmons when it comes to sacks, but still, QW was 7th in pressures among all non-edge DL despite being 32nd in snap count. He’s a menace at the keystone position and I’m hugely glad we’ve got him.

I guess that’s my point. Great player, glad we got him, glad we re-signed him, but, come on, he’s not Chris Jones, let alone the most disruptive defender in the league. We can say “this is a great player on a great deal,” without saying he’s the best DT in football.

He does have that potential, perhaps, but he wasn’t that last year or the year before. Maybe a functioning defense in a functioning team will unlock that. I’ll be happy with increasing his pass rush dominance and repeating his run stop grades.

He's obviously not unequivocally the best DT but I think there's a group of about 4-6 guys at DT who are all in that conversation and who are all about equal in ability.

Jones, Simmons, Brown, Carter and Williams, it's just that most of those guys have been on shitty teams with shitty offenses, but I think if you replace Jones with any of those guys over the last 5 years in KC you'd see roughly the same production and team success.

When grading DT’s you can’t ignore the run, either, where QW has made a significant upgrade.

With actual linebacking and not the things that were Murray and Sanborn we should see a major improvement there. It’s honestly something we haven’t had since 1996 in the games Leon Lett started. You just couldn’t get past him or the pursuit behind him. He barely got sacks, but that was never the point. It was a bonus.

There’s an elite groups of DT’s and he’s in the 1-5 mix every year. That is the definition of being ’arguably’ the most disruptive.

He was best boys with a certified nut case in Diggs, he talked shit about the rest of his teammates not playing well even though he himself didn't do much of anything in the Packers playoff game I believe, and he apparently had issues with Lawrence.

The rumblings were behind the scenes so we wouldn't have really seen it, but the way he went out kind of showed his true colors and what he was really about.

The talent is amazing, but not especially well rounded, and combined with the rest of this stuff I don't blame them for trading him.

I’m not convinced he even had the hunger to be great. He laid on the trainers table in the middle of a game. That doesn’t scream ambition.
