He would be a minority owner. Why is that such a big deal. He would not be involved like Jerry.

He was a minority owner with the Mavs when they made the most atrocious trade in the history of the league. Never underestimate the reach of his idiocy.

True but I don't blame him for that. I doubt he was in on it.

I just don't want him and his dumb opinions to be relevant to the team.

I doubt he's ready by then anyway.

Even if he is it's going to be his first or second game back and he's probably going to only be playing like 15-20 snaps.

Hopefully he pushes too hard to come back for that specific game and pops the other ACL.

I think the Packers are going to struggle quite a bit without him, so I could easily see him trying to come back a little earlier than he should.

:lol

I just don't see Micah coming back before he really feels 100%. He's obviously very concerned with his image and what people think of him, and I don't think he'll want to put out any bad tape because he has a balky knee.

We are going to have to go back through all of his posts and fact check him. Delete the ones that qualify for deletion.

Mark Cuban is fucking annoying.

He's a fucking idiot, too.

Maybe....but I bet the Cowboys would be much better off with him running things than they've been under Jerry.

Say what you want about him personally or his political beliefs, but when he was majority owner of the Mavs, they were one of the best run organizations in the entire NBA.

Not to mention, he wouldn't hesitate for one second to hire competent football people to do jobs he knows he isn't qualified to do just as he did with the Mavs and his basketball people.

So yeah.....I'm all for him owning even a minor stake in the team in hopes that one day it becomes major.

Would you prefer they hand the reigns over to him one day or fucking Spaulding?

I'll push back on that. Cuban did one thing right, he kept Dirk happy. But Dirk had the personality type that I think he'd have been loyal to Dallas and not looked for the most money or the bigger spotlight anyway.

Other than Dirk, Cuban ran off Don Nelson (who put the Dirk-Fin-Nash team together, not Cuban), he broke up the team that did win a championship, and he finally ran off Donnie Nelson. And why? Because as even Tim MacMahon said, Cuban was the most hands-on owner in sports... Yes, even more than Jerry Jones. He thought he knew more than professional lifelong basketball people, and often overruled them, when he didn't know jack.

I agree. He surrounded himself with competent people. He may be an asshole, but I think he ran the Mavs very well.

One of the best run organizations in basketball? Uhh, no.

Other than Dirk, Cuban ran off Don Nelson (who put the Dirk-Fin-Nash team together, not Cuban),

And? Big deal. Don Nelson was like a Bill Parcells who never won shit -- a guy that front offices could only tolerate for so long because he ruled with an iron fist, only he didn't have the skins on the wall to deserve that sort of liberty.

Don Nelson coached 5 NBA teams in his career and do you know how many championships he won?

Zero.

Do you know how many times he took a team to the NBA Finals?

Zero.

Don Nelson was to the Mavs what Tony Dungy was to the Bucs -- he took that team as far as he could and someone else needed to take over in order for the franchise to ultimately get where it wanted to go.

And that Mavs team he built? They were fun to watch but they were never going to win anything playing like they were because they were basically playing the equivalent of Mike D'Antoni ball, and that sort of basketball never wins shit.

That's why they even traded Nash -- they had to surround Dirk with tougher, more defensive-minded players to better compliment his game. And that's ultimately what they did and that's why they eventually won a championship.
he broke up the team that did win a championship,

Yeah, he broke that team up a bit early but this was a calculated risk that didn't work out. They wanted to make a run for Dwight Howard while Dirk still had championship basketball left in him and I don't blame them. That team was great to watch in 2011 and it's one of my favorite sports championships ever.....but they were not going to run it back the next year.

They were a one championship team and that was it.

Many around the NBA considered them the heavy favorites to land Howard but it ultimately didn't work out.

I can live with risks like that, especially since the core they had was not going to be able to make another run.
and he finally ran off Donnie Nelson

This is one critique I do agree with. He should have left him there but Cuban was trying to get into the analytics thing too which is why he hired that Voulgaris guy.

This was ultimately a mistake.

Because as even Tim MacMahon said, Cuban was the most hands-on owner in sports... Yes, even more than Jerry Jones. He thought he knew more than professional lifelong basketball people, and often overruled them, when he didn't know jack.

Mark Cuban's Mavs were one of the best run organizations in the NBA for the majority of his tenure as majority owner (I'm looking at you @Cotton ).

They were run well financially and they were a top 4 destination in all of basketball for a decade.

They were a perennial playoff team who went to 2 NBA Finals in 5 years.

For whatever hands on approach that Cuban might have had, do you recall the Mavs having puppet coaches under him like Dave Campo, Chain Gailey, or Jason Garrett?

Did he refuse to hire GMs and allow them to run and build the team like Jerry does? No.

So while he may not have been perfect, it is completely disingenuous to say that the Mavs were poorly run or compare him to Jerry in any way.

So I'll say it again -- if it's between him or the Jones' running the Cowboys? I'm taking Cuban 10 times out of 10.
