2026 Random Cowboys Stuff Thread...

In the case of Styles, we're adding a playmaker vs 'only' an ILB.

In the case of Brooks, we're addressing a position that is currently a negative. We've got bad play there, something we can't abide and would clearly be fixing by adding such a veteran. Pick 112 would be high, but I'd be ok with two 5ths instead.

Remember, we are drafting against Dak's window, not only to build our team. That changes some of the urgency.

I don't play by this "Dak's window" thought process. Look no further than "Romos" window that we cared so much about. It ended with Dak taking over before Romo was ready to retire. Hope we get lucky again when Dak's window closes. But I see no reason to act like in 3 years football is over in Dallas.

Romo's fluke injury almost certainly kept us from going deeper into the playoffs.

Dak benefitted hugely from the "Romo's Window" strategy as he played behind an OL blocking so well that a fricking rookie QB was almost never pressured and behind a fresh RB who was a top five pick.

Dak's window is real, 33 to start the season, accumulating injuries, clock ticking on a major contract, and there is no "new Dak" waiting to take over. It's not that football is over in three years, but any chance to compete will completely be reset when Dak fades.

When you think about it in those terms, why not borrow from the future for right now, when Dak is healthy and coming off what many called his best season

You want to borrow from the future financially I'm all for it.

You want to borrow from the future by sacrificing draft picks for one year rentals and I'm against it. Just draft better, that's the solution. And despite your fortune teller abilities you have no idea what the QB situation will be in Dallas when Dak is near retirement.

"It's hard to sign linebackers in the NFL."

I think the extension is kind of a given.
Yeah, I wouldn't be caping for him as a one year rental. The deal would have to include an extension ready and agreed upon by all involved before the trade could happen at 92.
