2026 Random Cowboys Stuff Thread...

Given all of these things he is saying is true, why was he made available?

A. because they brought back Greenlaw so he wouldn't be starting (Although they should be careful, Greenlaw can't stay healthy)
B. I think they were maybe just trying to be nice
C. They may have been doing Winters a solid by trading him. Guy is going into his contract year. Sitting behind Greenlaw and Fred Warner wasn't going to help him get a contract after this year. In Dallas he will step in and likely start right away. They knew they would lose him after this season. San Fran instead used the fifth to draft a LBer that they will have control over for 4 years in Dugger.

I think the long and short of it is he probably wasn't in their long term plans and figured they might as well get something for him.

They were obviously comfortable playing him big snaps but he's not good enough to make him a centerpiece, so they got what they could for him at a position that they're mostly comfortable at.

Yep, like I said they took the pick and got a young LBer (Supposedly we were really interested in him too, Jaden Duggar), basically just rotating these LBers through the conveyor belt.

They drafted Nick Martin last year in the third round. My guess is they are also expecting him to step up.

Broncos used the pick we traded to SF to get Justin Joly whom at one point I suspected we were going to draft.

At least Winters has a proven floor at a position of need for us. For all we know Barham might bust, and so a sure thing isn’t bad to have for such a low price.

WTF? Why the hell was it widely reported he had?
