We may have a new Wino ILB coach. He can keep Sorensen company under his overpass.

Should they maybe sign Pickens and franchise Aubrey instead?

No, the 2nd round tender is cheaper than the franchise tag. And Aubrey is restricted already, the franchise tag isn't even necessary since if someone signs Aubrey under the tender the cowboys can match anyway. The franchise tag just wouldn't make sense.

I'm not even sure the tag is available for a restricted player under the rules regardless, but the restricted tender is better anyway.

Edit: teams can use the tag on a restricted FA, but even still as I said above the tender makes more sense.

As an aside, yes they should sign Pickens but that doesn't really affect Aubrey.

He doesn't sound like a fucking moron like Sorenson though.

I really think he's going to be a great coach in the nfl. I don't know what kind of impact he'll have at this stage of his career, but I do believe our LBs will be more physical and attacking. He's big on destroying blocks. Assuming the team is working as a unit, it's going to be easier for someone to make the tackle.

EZ I fully expected. But Marist is an interesting one. It seems like 3-4 OLBers are starting to trend more towards athleticism and less towards a DE standing up and rushing. Which I appreciate. I look at a 240 pound guy like Bonitto and he physically looks more LBer than DE.

Marist is basically the same size.

I could see him playing a similar role as Baun in Philly, kind of like a mix between a 3-4 OLB and ILB.

Yeah, feels like a good fit for Marist. Really good blitzer and a player that I think can be a terror when coming down hill. But I think he can be confused when asked to do things that are too complicated.

We'll how it works out but this is exactly what we wanted. A guy who can be creative in how he gets maximum production out of the players he has.

Yep, versatility is going to be really important I think in this defense. Which I'm pretty excited about. Now we just need to stock this thing with more players.

Also we had a severe lack of players at OLBer. We adding Marist into the mix makes sense. Otherwise it's literally just Ez and Houston that can play that role. And I do think it's a good fit for Houston.
