2026 NFL Coaches/GMs Firing & Hiring Thread

I think it makes no sense. He was already calling plays. I get you don't want a whole new offense for Allen, but they're really not changing anything institutionally. If you cant get over the hump I don't see this as changing anything. And most Bills fans agree. You need to either rehaul the whole thing and get a new voice or just don't fire McDermott.
To me, he's a very good offensive mind and likely would have been hired somewhere else as soon as next year, so why not just keep him? Especially this year with so many openings and some iffy hires.

And I doubt they wanted a total overhaul anyway. But I assume they'll now get a new guy to run the defense.

Are you saying that most Bills fans didn't want any change at all after all these years? Credit to them if that's true, because I personally think McDermott did a good job there, but I don't believe that's the nature of most fans.

I think so on McDermott and they also feel that way about the Brady hire.

Their defense was pretty good this year with not the greatest talent so you had that already. The offense is always good. They have Josh Allen. You could coordinate 30 points a game with him.

It's just that if you're going to fire McDermott then go for change. Just feels like status quo so what's the point other than slight change for the sake of change.

I'd be so pissed if we waited 3 weeks to jettison our assistants, after a bunch of potential replacements are off the board.

What a shittily run franchise.
Which is why they’re looking at Frank Reich, the league’s forgotten man. Also, Glenn looks like a lame duck at this point, which makes it harder to attract quality candidates. If they’re so bad in 2026 that they’re in a position to draft Manning, ain’t no way Glenn is coaching him.

Hell to get Manning is probably the only reason that he wasnt fired.

What really be funny is if they got an over the hill coaching staff to see if they can outwit the yutes.

That is about the only way that franchise will be remotely watchable.

Guess he passed all of their tests.
