2026 Draft Week Chatter Thread...

Only things so far...

There are a group of fans who get shown the draft room by Jerry. Wonder how much those suckers paid for that. Jerry says we know so much about these kids, down to who their next door neighbors were growing up. Jerry: "I'd be upset if everyone knew as much about me as we know about these players."

I didn't realize there were only like seven seconds left to get our pick in after the Eagles trade.

Schotty seemed totally shocked when the Rams took Simpson.

When 20 is up, Jerry asks about the pass rushers and who they want. Shotty is the one talking to him on his right, saying we think Lawrence. Interesting because he's not even looking over to his left where Goof and McClay is. Unless McClay got up and walked over there, it looks like Schotty and Parker essentially made the pick, although everyone agreed on Lawrence. Obviously not everything is shown and there is some editing, but still, kind of interesting he's not asking Will.

Like boozer said, Goof seems competent and even Jerry does. Could be AI though. :unsure

One of the ironic things about how we got Downs is that if the Giants hadn't traded Lawrence for 10, you have to think the Bengals would've taken Downs given that he was the clear defensive BPA at 10.

At the time everybody thought the Giants making that trade locked us out of Styles or Downs dropping to 10 but it actually might've been the reason for it.

Yeah, that part when they had Jerry up there explaining how things worked to their dumb asses was amusing.

Obviously the Joneses can run every aspect of an NFL team, having done so for 37 years. They know who to call, how to draft, how to set up an equipment room, whatever is needed to run a franchise.

They can do all that shite.

But they aren’t football creators. They get consensus among lackeys who hang on their every word and who owe them everything.

They are content with losing because they lack any element of fear that they won’t be there next year.

They get hugely paid, are the center of attention, entertain famous people, and go through the motions of running a team like people in a marriage that lost all its passion 30 years ago.

We got Downs and Lawrence :flip

It's two things that you touched on: 1. the Jones jokers don't have the natural football intelligence to creatively make decisions and shift strategies on the fly and 2. there's no sense of urgency because nobody's job is on the line.

Almost every single one of these GM's have been in the league for 20 years before getting their big shot, and they know they have maybe 5 years to hit it big. Instead we have a bunch of guys who know they're stuck in place no matter what, even a guy like McClay who is a made man.

Ultimately I don't think our FO is bad by any means, they've been excellent in the draft over the last 10+ years. They just have a few blind spots that they continually ignore because there are no repercussions for their actions.

Just finished it. I thought it was really well done. Hopefully they keep putting these out every year. It was cool seeing behind the scenes. We always hear rumors after the draft about the Cowboys tried to do this and the Cowboys tried to do that. But, to see it happen in real time was really cool.

I mean, in theory, they may have cut Roseman saying no without the extra 7th.
I wondered that too. Just from the context it almost seemed like something was left out.

Fascinating, I think 12/20 and a 5 for 9/24 is pretty fair in general, although it depends on what the team at 9 is looking for. If the team at 9 was Miami or Arizona I could've easily seen them doing it, but Cleveland loved Fano and probably had a pretty big gap between him and any other OT because he was one of the only top tier OT's who actually has the athleticism for LT.

Pretty obvious that Downs was the target though, and I bet they were worried about the Giants at 10. If Downs had went earlier and Styles was there I assume they would've offered something similar.

Interesting that the Browns told Stephen that 12/20 for 9/24 was "light in all dimensions." I wonder how far from equal it was on the chart.
