2026 Draft Week Chatter Thread...

So only one pick today.

I'm going to go with Trotter somehow making it to 92. I think he can slide in right away and be excellent as a run defender. It's a little lower than he is projected to go but I think we will have a shot at him. Great fit next to Overshown and I'd feel confident he could be an impact player on this defense.

I would be good with that. I like him.

Along with the added bonus of bumming out the eagles, taking Jeremiah Trotter’s boy.

Yeah he is kind of a clone of his dad too. Would make for an awkward Thanksgiving dinner at the family party.

And them if we can keep all 3 fourth round picks, it will be a lot of fun looking at names tonight for the start of day three. You can kind of open up and just take whoever you want knowing you filled your 3 big needs. 3 BPAs in the fourth round could be awesome.

It's still hard to believe that we got Downs, I knew logically that there was a chance he'd fall into our range due to his position but I just never really let myself go too far down the road of thinking about the implications of actually getting him.

But 10-15 years from now we're going to look back at this pick and it'll be thrown around in the conversation as one of our great 1st round picks over the last 20-30 years with Ware in 2005, Dez in 2010, Tyron in 2011, Frederick in 2013, Martin in 2014, Lamb in 2020 and Parsons in 2021.

He's highly likely to be a ROH type and possibly a HOF'er as long as he stays healthy.

The position isn't as impactful as a pass rusher but he's going to be roughly the same caliber of player as Parsons, possibly even as a rookie, and it completely changes the calculus of what the defense is over the next few years.
If he’s ROH and HOF worthy, his position will be plenty impactful.

I liked Jerry’s comparison to Darren Woodson. Both highly impactful players with high intelligence and were always in the right position to make a play.

Darren Woodson was the safety who could man the slot and tackle like a LBer before it was even cool.

Also Woodson should be in the HOF.

Whatever LB is ready to go now is who we need. No redshirt, no developmental shit, they have to play now. I have preferences, but I don’t care as long as Parker is the one who identified the player.

I mean there are a number of guys that I like and fit that mold. Who you like?

Hyphen guy…I like Rolder and Fisher because they played in some good defenses and are well coached. Keyshawn Elliott too.

All very good names. I know this board has focused primarily on Rodriguez, Hill and Allen but I don't see any of those 3 making it to 92.

But there are some damn good LBers outside of those 3. And honestly I've said forever it's not three it's more like 5 or 6. I think Golday and Trotter are right along with that group as well.

But even beyond that Elliott and Fisher are both pretty interesting. Brugler for example has Elliott as his 82nd best player. Guy had 7 sacks this past year and 14 tackles for loss. He has great instincts, size and good athleticism. He is also one of these super intelligent, green dot type kids. Academic All American.

My favorite quote from Brugler:

  • Already a professional in terms of his work ethic and study habits (NFL scout: “He wears out the coaches — in the best way possible.”)

Apparently Parker kept spamming Jerry and McClay with pics and info on Downs and Lawrence. That makes me like the picks even more. I have no reason to trust Parker, but I just like his vibes and will until he proves otherwise.

Jerry I can understand, but McClay is supposed to know these players inside and out. He doesn't need audiovisual help.
