2026 Draft Week Chatter Thread...

It's still hard to believe that we got Downs, I knew logically that there was a chance he'd fall into our range due to his position but I just never really let myself go too far down the road of thinking about the implications of actually getting him.

But 10-15 years from now we're going to look back at this pick and it'll be thrown around in the conversation as one of our great 1st round picks over the last 20-30 years with Ware in 2005, Dez in 2010, Tyron in 2011, Frederick in 2013, Martin in 2014, Lamb in 2020 and Parsons in 2021.

He's highly likely to be a ROH type and possibly a HOF'er as long as he stays healthy.

The position isn't as impactful as a pass rusher but he's going to be roughly the same caliber of player as Parsons, possibly even as a rookie, and it completely changes the calculus of what the defense is over the next few years.

So how come other teams aren’t bidding?

Probably age and it's not a position that's in high demand, only teams trying to win now (and with a need) would make a trade like that, which is probably only a handful of teams.

He'd be a nice 3ish year solution for us though.

Great night last night. I don’t think I could have come up with a better night of deals and picks. Getting those 4th rounders was amazing.
What would really be amazing is if they bundled those up to move back into the 2nd for a LBer.

Yeah I mean I think you have the ammo to get into the late second round if you want to. There are probably 5 LBers I'd be willing to trade up for. Which feels like a lot but a run can wipe that out really quickly. I think Anthony Hill, CJ Allen, Jacob Rodriguez, Jake Golday and Josiah Trotter would all carry round 2 grades for me. Kyle Louis probably an early round 3 grade but more fit dependent.

If you wait until pick 92 I think you'd have to be thrilled if any of those 6 LBers were available. I don't expect it but shit happens every year. You never know if teams have other needs they want to fill first.

You can probably get him in the sixth. The only way I see any higher is if this tackle panic situation forces a reach.

I could be wrong but I'm staying away from OT in this draft. I don't think you'll find good value in the fourth. I think you'll find more Waletzko and Balls and I'm not doing it.

Now if Jennings Dunker makes it to 92 through every NFL team going full retard, we can talk then.

Even in good tackle drafts, that type rarely hits beyond backup quality. This is a bad draft for the position and I can easily see most of them taken last night being first contract players.

Other than Dunker (Who may play guard but I like him as a RT), I'm not sure there is even an OT I'd take in the second round left at this point.

7 OT's went in the first round in what is a relatively weak OT class. I kind of feel like the position is already picked over and teams are going to reach over the next two rounds on whatever scraps are left.

Sit at 92 and take Rolder. The end.

I like Rolder but not at 92 for me.

I'm not sure why Kaleb Elarms-Orr doesn't get more love. 130 tackles in 2025, 4 sacks, and he is an athletic freak with a 4.47 forty. Also ideal size at 6'2" 234 pounds. He will likely be my top LBer left at 92 unless Trotter or Golday drop.
