2026 Cowboys Preseason Week 2 Gameday Chatter Thread | Cowboys @ Cardinals | 08/22/2026

I know it's just preseason, and I know the level of "talent" that the Cardinals have, but fuck last night was fun to watch. I need to go find a Shiyazh Pete interview to calm me down before I go full blown homer.

I love this play from him because while he's scrambling he's still looking to make a play downfield instead of just giving up and running. This is the sort of payoff you can get when you do that.

Also nice work from Brown to keep working.

His pocket presence is way better than the bonehead shit he was doing last year. Dare I say the staff has done a good job developing him?

Coverage sack, but even on those it takes effort, and Overton certainly showed it here.

He has some bend and flexibility to him that you don't see out of most interior DL, you can see it there in the last second or so as he breaks free of the block before the sack.

I don't think he'll see huge snaps this year but he's definitely a very promising rookie.

Barhammer, when he asked to wear the green dot.

Milton is clearly the QB2, he's more physically talented and has shown development since last year, while playing pretty pristinely this preseason.

I still think there's value in keeping Howell in case Milton reverts to shit if Dak misses a few games, but I'd also be fine cutting him for someone like Toia or whoever.

Imagine having these two choices for your starting QB. I feel pretty fortunate we are having to make a decision between Milton and Howell and our BACKUP QB.

I know it wasn't some splashy 50 yard throw in the air dropped into the bread basket, but this was probably Milton's best pass of the game. Just beautiful to first get himself in the position and then a perfect pass in stride to TDCB.

It was impressive because he actually showed some touch instead of trying to throw it through his chest.

Yeah I said something similar to my old man.

I don't know if I've ever had this much fun watching a freaking preseason game.

Yeah, it was nice watching guys make plays all over the field on both sides of the ball, but I think what made that game so enjoyable for me was the impression I got from it all, and that is -- this looks like a team that's well coached and understands what they're supposed to do.

From the guys who started to the guys who finished the game, everyone looked disciplined and well coached.

If what we saw last night is indicative of the sort of understanding the entire team has and last night wasn't just a good night? It's gonna be a really fun season.
