2026 Cowboys Preseason Week 1 Gameday Chatter Thread | Cowboys @ Seahawks | 08/15/2026

He's a bit of a project, if he's still looking hesitant in November then I'll worry, for now it is what it is out of a late first type who was never really a projected starter this year to begin with.

I feel like he's a player that doesn't want to make a mistake with his responsibilities right now as he's learning the system. I think in the long run that kind of thinking will make him a better player, but it's probably making him a bit slower currently. Definitely a wait and see with him.

The Seahawks announcers were super annoying and basically didn’t even mention the Cowboys were on the field.

It’s like this everywhere though. Washington preseason booth teams are terrible. No national perspective and really paid to hype up the local fan base

They're paid hype men, while the ESPN types are paid to protect the perception of the network and the NFL, which are now one and the same to an extent.

Getting Mazi vibes. Get off is clearly not there yet, and watching him bounce off people is not fun.

I’d have like to have seen some kind of flash or hint of why he was drafted in the first round. Never liked his late climb into the first and all the camp news and this tape shows he’s behind what you’d expect from a first round guy.

YES I know it’s only his first preseason game and that the NFL is an adjustment from the college game, but he’s playing against other backups after a full offseason so far. I mean we saw nothing that might distinguish him whatsoever— he has a lot of grinding to do.

When coaches are asked about him and their reply is “He’s getting better”, it makes me nervous.

Mazi vibes? After a few first game preseason snaps? Jesus.

he looks like a guy who's thinking instead of reacting
This is exactly what I saw. It looked like he was scared to screw up and instead of playing ball he was thinking about the techniques being coached. He needs to find a good balance and, if he does, he will be a very good player for us for years. What I saw of him in college he was just playing ball. Last night he didn't have near the get off, probably because overthinking what he was supposed to do when the ball was snapped. I think he will be fine.

Camden probably isn't a Mensa candidate, but it does sound like the drive is there. Both QBs made mention of his listening to coaches and always asking questions. Curtis Robinson sounds like a blue dot. He seems very savvy about the game. Just a few takeaways I got from this.

I got timestamped like 4 times on this post. I will never learn learn. :picard

Another first rounder who's slow off the snap. Wonderful.

And the “He’s getting better” comment during camp... Far short of the general praise for Downs and Barham.

I was dubious to start with and now expect very little this year, at least relative to what I'd hope for from a 1st round pick.

The Brown hype is a little out of hand. But with that being said, yes he looks like our best receiver option outside the top 3 (4 if you count Turpin) guys. So right now he should make the roster. It's not like there is a bunch of top notch competition for that spot anyway.

But it was preseason week 1. Just like Milton playing better than Howell. We have 2 more weeks to judge that. No reason to get overly hyped about anything. It's scrubs verse scrubs.
Yeah Milton didn’t play better than Howell
