2026 Cowboys Free Agency Thread…

So I guess the plan at LB is Rodriguez at 20?

Good thing the rest of the league will have no idea.

In all seriousness. I watched this guy for years at North Carolina. He has some legit gunslinger and moxie in him (good with bad - he did also lead the league in INTs his one starting year).

He was thrust into a terrible situation in Washington and it probably negatively affected his development. There is no reason that this player can’t be a late bloomer pretty good starting QB with good coaching.

Not saying he will. But he could. There’s talent here that a guy like Milton or Grier doesn’t have.

That’s ok. I’ll comment on it. SCISSOR FUCKING!!

But from the 9ers? Their players are walking MASH units.

So bad fit for our defense but a good fit for their Fangio inspired 3-4?

So hypothetically Osa for Fred Warner? Would you? The injury thing on Warner would be my only hesitation otherwise dude is special.

Nothing at corner on that defense would even slightly interest me. I'll actually take our corners over theirs.

I'd take the 49ers draft pick though. Second rounder and I'm good, I'll take my own corner with that pick.

Does Parker run a 3/1.5 variation of the 3/4?

Because if not, where the fuck are the linebackers? Yes, plural.

3-4 OLB is fine, not ideal and could definitely use a high pick, but it's passable with Gary, Ezeiruaku, Houston and Williams. I guess you can throw Liufau in there also but I don't think he's a serious piece.

ILB is the issue, we have Overshown and I guess James maybe, and then basically nothing.

But we need to use a fairly high pick on a rusher. I hoped 20 (or after a small trade down) would be that guy.

Now we're back to drafting to fill holes again, and as usual there are more holes than picks. :angry

I feel we’ve got a lot of out of position/little positional experience pieces at OLB. I thought that was a prime area for a high-impact FA addition, though we might get lucky in the draft.

But ILB just feels dire. Overshown’s size and injury history and James’s underwhelming rookie campaign just seem like gaping holes, backed up by literally nothing.

Gary has played 3-4 OLB basically his whole career so he's fine in that respect, I think 3-4 OLB suits Ezeiruaku best as well.

The issue is that Houston isn't really a guy you want playing big snaps, Williams is a chucklefuck, Liufau isn't really a 3-4 OLB, and then you're left with a guy in Gary who might be slowing down some and Ezeiruaku who needs to improve.

Gary could easily have a Lawrence-like renaissance and Ezeiruaku could take a step in his development and we'd be fine. But the opposite of that is just as possible, which is why I hope we can get an edge rusher somewhere high in the draft.

ILB is more or less fucked and they absolutely have to come out of the draft with one at a high pick sadly.

He was a stand up rusher in college. It fits him perfectly if you watch what he was doing in college. I actually think you may see more of the player you expected when we drafted him as opposed to what we saw last year.

Fuck every Jones from Jerry down to Spaulding and all of his dipshit Longhorn cousins.

Fuck John Park too. This is bullshit.

It was a problem last year. A major problem. And we have done zero to fix it. Can't really complain about the guys who are free agents because they were god awful. But we have done absolutely nothing to fix it either. Which is alarming right now. We haven't even sign a depth guy that could maybe play some meaningful snaps. And yes I know we will draft a LBer. Maybe even two. But jeez with two picks in the first two days right now it feels like you have to take one in the first. Which is not a position I want to be in.

Hopefully they have some sort of plan beyond, we will draft one in the first come hell or high water.
