2026 Cowboys Free Agency Thread…

Ask yourself this: If he is so good, why is he available?

Because he is in the final year of his 3 year contract and has a very large cap number as a result?

He is better than you say but not 17.1 mil cap hit good.

I really, really hope they just aren't telling her anything and they aren't as lazy and cheap as they sound.

We would only be on the hook for 12.5 of that for the record.

I was hoping it was only the 10. But my guess is we also have to pick up the 2.5 mil roster bonus? But he is still a very young dude. Came into the NFL very young.

Anyway, I wouldn't hate it. But probably not my top choice left.

I mean someone is telling her things but they might not be true. I don't think Jane is just making shit up. But I also don't know how much info her sources are really feeding her.

Ravi is trying to spin this CB class as weak now? Jesus.
It is at the top, not in the middle. There's not a lot of difference between 2nd-4th rounders and purported 1st rounders Delane, McCoy, and Terrell.

Cisse, Hood, Ponds, Malik Muhammad, Keionte Scott, and Chris Johnson-- they are all good, legit starters with NFL speed. Even a late rounder like Tacario Davis is prolly going to get real PT.

So with all that, why burn pick 12?? There are huge advantages to trading down and landing multiple CB's instead of jist one who's not that much better.

It's not hard.

Well I think Delane is a cut above.

And who says we have to burn pick 12. Could burn pick 20 instead. Which is where I'd group the second tier of corners.

I'm hearing the opposite, that Delane is good but no where near a Patrick Surtain-type player. He's the best of a very good bunch, but there is no true blue chip guy but rather lots of 2nd round talents.

I would rather spend our top choices on the best edge players as this draft is also strong and deep there. Unfortunately where we sit we miss the first wave of them as they all go top ten, and the next wave are 2nd roundish talents.

Mesidor may be the exception if we're OK with his age. I'm not opposed to Terrell or similar pick at 20 just at missing the extra value the draft has to offer.

The only thing that would concern me about trading down would be a run on CB's, which is possible in the current climate and lack of free agency singings.

Before this process started, folks had Delane ranked in the 20's before demand started invisibly pushing him up. The guy never changed-- he didn't even run a 40.

Both picks should be BPA, and if you are gonna stretch for anything make it a front 7.

I don’t want to feel the pressure to go there unless it’s a clear value which it probably won’t be.

I agree about the BPA. And I agree with pass rusher.

The real challenge of this draft class is that we have 2 premium picks and then nothing until the fourth round. The more picks you have the more you can just draft BPA and law of averages says it will balance out at different positions.

When you have 2 premium picks and that's it. You're only hitting 2 positions with your impact picks. Which is why I really want to trade down. You can have 2 less premium first round picks and get yourself a second and third round pick and it makes BPA a hell of a lot easier.

So they got left at the alter with no backup plans and no real chance at formulating one because prices, as ever, are “too high” in their estimation.

You know what I always wondered, and I'm sure there is some unwritten rule among NFL teams and players. But no one can sign until tomorrow. All these deals supposedly "done" what prevents an NFL team from going up to Dean and saying, I'll do better on that contract? You haven't signed yet because you can't until tomorrow.

Obviously that doesn't happen but it's silly that we pretend like no one actually signs until free agency begins tomorrow.

They have to trade down and get another day 2 pick. At least.

They should try to trade down twice and get two extra. But they really need a home run draft.
