2026 Cowboys Free Agency Thread…

I think what this means is they're not desperate for a guy like Hendrickson anymore. I'd like to see them sign another pass rusher but one of the mid tier guys makes more sense now.

Now that we have Gary I think I'd only be interested in a big upside shot in Hendrickson or a rotational guy/spot starter in Dre'Mont Jones, Ebiketie, etc.

I don't think I'm interested in paying a guy like Oweh or Phillips 20/year on top of Gary.

This is all on Parker. Hope he can get more mileage out of this guy. Don't like tossing out 4th round picks. At all, but anyone can see the immediate need.

At least now they have two players who might be able to legit start the season as outside edge rushers.

The position is paper thin until FA and the draft, and Loofah honestly doesn't count as he's no edge rusher by any reckoning. I think he will properly land as part of the inside rotation (eventually).

Yeah, this may be crazy but I have my heart set on drafting one of these young twitchy edges. Kind of wary of paying any vet edge who might be on the verge of losing that juice. Obvious exceptions if the deal is good enough. But I think I'd rather pay a LB or S for the intelligence and experience to function in a complex scheme and use the draft picks where you need the explosive athletic ability (edge, corner).

I still like Oweh in case they only land a single legit pass rusher in the draft.

They also need to restructure Gary, Clark, and Williams, I think.

Gary is basically a younger Lawrence, good but not elite edge, power player, very good against the run.

We know what we're getting, he's never going to be a 14 sack guy.

Honestly, if they can unleash in FA for the first time in decades we can let the draft focus on getting the best possible players.

I've been of a "trade down" mentality and likely still will be, but if Dallas can answer most of its glaring weaknesses questions with trades and FA signings it puts a whole lot less pressure on the draft's need to flesh out depth.

Whether he's good or not, the Gary signing was clearly a commitment to a "win now" type season. You don't trade away a future cheap player for a 19 million dollar cap hit otherwise. So there's hope all this cap clearing will actually be used in free agency

If they add a few more starters in FA you're going to be hearing a whole lot of Jeremiyah Love talk over here.

We don't need 14 sacks, just reliable pressure and dependable run support when we're supposed to get it.

I really like this move. It seems he thrived when teams were having trouble figuring Micah out, a little like Osa's surge after Williams joined. Gary is not your pressure guy who can move from team to team interchangeably, I think he needs to be part of an ensemble pass rush. Sounds like a great fit.

if we cab find more pass rushers

Get Thompson at S and add Mafe. Get some cheaper depth. And we go into this draft looking 100X better than I could have ever thought we would going into this offeseason.

Cool, so he had 7 sacks in the first 7 then?

Seems decent, decent enough for a 4th next year at least.

It said in the ESPN article, he played in every game but only played 58% of the snaps. They were alluding to him wearing out later in the season. That's kind of concerning.

He always does this shit. It's fucking irritating. I guess I should just unfollow him. But, he says something very negative and then always backtracks with something like, "Oh, well I didn't mean it to come across negative" or some such passive aggressive shit. Drives me nuts.
