2026 Cowboys Free Agency Thread…

They should negotiate with Aubrey like Frank did with Charlie over how many months rent he would pay.

Don't expect many to get it.

ESPN Fowler on what we might do in FA:

The Cowboys are crafting a detailed free agency plan to bolster their defense. The new scheme under coordinator Christian Parker needs replenishment. Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean is someone to watch as a green-dot player in the middle of the defense. The Cowboys will monitor the top of the pass-rush free agent options, too. They aren't guaranteed to spend big, but I believe they will get a pass rusher at some point.

They will also comb the free agent safety class (Arizona's Jalen Thompson makes sense), and they need a nickel corner. Dallas has felt the void since Jourdan Lewis left.

Thompson is a guy I've been mentioning for a few weeks, alongside Dean obviously, just those two right there would be our best FA haul in 20+ years.

Somehow I feel better about Thompson than even Dean. Not sure about signing these guys who are hurt all the time.

Yea I like Thompson a lot, there's a bunch of good safeties available in FA and he isn't at the top, but he's probably somewhere around 4th-5th and would be a big upgrade over Wilson.

Of course I'm going to assume that literally none of this happens until the very second that it's reported as actually done in about a week, so there's that as well.

What the hell happened to Donovan? He really flashed right at first and then fell off a cliff.

I mean first he is 31 years old. Age wise he is past his prime.

Second I think the system was a big deal. We felt absolutely stacked at safety when Quinn was here. Undrafted guys, scrubs from other teams and late round picks looked like awesome players. Quinn left and the defensive coaching staff left and suddenly everyone at safety looked so much worse. Wilson in the right role still may be a decent player, but in a traditional safety role, he blows.
