2026 Cowboys Free Agency Thread…

Holding out hope for my new pet cat Kaden Elliss. Checks the intelligent and versatile (good rusher) boxes. Shouldn't cost a fortune.

I watched every sack from Oweh, Mafe and Chaisson and this is how the majority of their sacks looked.

It's how the majority of Lawrence's sacks last year looked.

The guys who can quickly win clean off the edge with speed/power consistently are the ones getting 30-40/year, but you don't necessarily need one of those guys to have a great defense, like Seattle had this year.

It's going to be EZ this year.

Or Howell.

Or both.

He is a good player and a hell of a run defender. This move gives you a really good starter. But not a difference maker. But you're not getting a difference making free agent pass rusher unless it's a 31 year old Hendrickson.

Yeah, he's over 275 lbs. He's not going to look like a Micah or Bonitto or smaller guy like that.

He does run a 4.58 forty...

But yeah, dudes a full size player. He is very physical. I think the idea is to pair him with more of the opposite on the other side. Which frankly is what the Packers were trying to kind of do with Parsons. And then Parsons got hurt.

275 seems kind of heavy to play OLB in a 3-4.

That's why I say he'd pair perfectly with a Howell or one of these smaller rushers. This isn't the thread, but I'm kind of draft crushing on Malachi Lawrence lately. You could start EZ and Gary and let the rookie work in as a DPR.

The only thing about Gary is, he doesn't really fill a huge hole for us if you consider Clowney was pretty decent last year. We need an ILB in the worst way.

Still having another corner will crowd the depth chart and make a first rounder less likely.

I still think we have just as good of a chance of drafting a safety as we do corner. I really think this defensive coach values that more right now for this roster. You might see some one year prove it deal on a corner to be a backup in case of injury. But if you think they are signing an established nfl starting corner I don't think you will see that.

Now LBer, we need to get done ASAP. We have Overshown and that's it. Just get one LBer who is a legit starter. You really have to.

Thompson really is the versatile chess piece our defensive coordinator wants. Guy basically played a third of his snaps in the slot, a third in the box and a third as a FS. Just a DB you can play all over. He can cover, he can tackle he can kind of do everything.

Given that the staff obviously targeted him coming into FA I don't think there's any chance he busts barring injury. Parker knows exactly what he needs in the secondary and you know he's not going to miss when given his choice of high profile DB's with the ability to base a judgment on several years of NFL performance.

If the safety is Downs that could be fine.

Nakobe Dean to Raiders. And Quay Walker.

3 for 36 for Dean. We must have our eyes on someone else. If CP really wanted him they would've paid him that.

Archer said they liked Walker more than Dean.

Broadus just said in so many words Devin Lloyd is dumb. 50% pf the plays out of position. Sounds like someone else.
