2026 Cowboys Free Agency Thread…

They are talking about Hendrickson. Just have to give up money to get him.

Oh, oops. In that case the Bengals defense wasn't unstoppable either and it wouldn't make us unstoppable but I'd definitely be on board signing Hendrickson.

I'm just saying even adding one elite edge isn't going to make us "unstoppable."

Yeah no it won't. Hell one free agent even an elite edge isn't going to take this defense from worst to good. We need to add more than one guy.

I don't want free agency to be one player and then prepare for the draft. I actually think we are better off adding multiple good players as opposed to one great player.

But that doesn't mean add 10 backup players and no real starters either. You need some high end talent on defense. But that's where the draft is so important. That's where you generally add the true elite talents.

We also don't necessarily need the defense to be top 10 or elite next year, just an average defense easily gets us into the playoffs. Obviously the overall goal isn't to just have an average defense, but that's the first step with an eye on the next 2-3 years.

Yeah I'm trying to get it from worst to above average. I'd love for the defense to be unstoppable but that's not happening in one offseason.

Exactly.

But, I'd rather pay 30 million to a high performer like Hendrickson than 20 million to an overrated mediocre player like Phillips.

Having an expensive player not performing is a much bigger problem than a more expensive player who is playing well.

Yea I think my preference would be Oweh at 20, Hendrickson at 30, then either Phillips at 20 or Dre'Mont Jones at 10, then Mafe or Paye at 10.

Random, but a guy I didn't realize was so good until NFL had on a Bucs-Falcons game the other day was Kaden Elliss. One of the better LB available and extremely smart too. He's probably in the "Never in Million Years" category, though.

I don't think he'll be that expensive but he'd be a good signing.

I did a quick search and one of the reputable sites projected him to be the third highest paid off ball LB. I'm sure they'd rather get Dean with the CP connection, so I just hope the Niners don't get Elliss. I was extremely impressed with him.

Anyway, great list. You know Cheap Son looks at a list like that and says, "Look at all those players! No need to go early, we can just wait for the expensive ones to sign and then get what's left over!" :doh

(Although I do think we do more than last year, if only from fanbase pressure.)

I've been looking at Polymarket odds the last few days and we've been near the top with a few other teams for Hendrickson, usually around 30%.

It just went up to 91%.

These "prediction markets" are basically scams but I thought it was interesting to see such a huge jump a few hours before FA kicks off.

Yeah, 30% you can call just the popular Cowboys bet, but over 90 sounds like somebody knows something.

Uh oh, don't let Geng see this...

Steele got a new deal. But took a pay cut.

Edit, I'm not taking a lap because our leader told us to put these posts in this thread! :unsure

I appreciate how we call this the tampering period. Deals are already worked out. Players have already been tampered with. A bunch of players will be announced immediately when the tampering period starts.

So yeah, Hendrickson probably has a good idea where he is going.

To be fair it's called the legal tampering period. The league knows the talks start earlier than this.

Gary is the guy I wanted in the Parsons deal, to get him for a "late round pick" is a coup.

He's not an elite pass rusher but he's very well rounded against the run and will give you 8ish sacks a year.

It's kind of funny that the Packers have hollowed out their front 7 to make room for the Parsons money.
