Yeah I just don't see a scenario where you'd take M-W at 12 unless you like him more than Thieneman.

Anyone consider putting Peter Woods in the discussion? Its really Dline/pass rusher or DB we are talking about here. I think the LBers would all be a massive reach at 12.

Honestly BPA is probably offense if we want to be honest about it.

I think Woods and Faulk are bigger possibilities at 12 than any of us would care to believe.

I've thought about it, and reluctantly agree to trading away 92 to go up from 12 and get one of these if that's all it takes to do.
Downs
Delane
Would start looking for trade down possibilities if above 6 are gone. Would consider small drop if Delane is still there, if I could still get one of the bottom three.
McCoy
Theineman

Would be trying to drop from 20 unless something crazy falls to us. But if we were to trade up from 12 while holding on to 20, then I'd be trying my hardest to trade down. Try to get that pick in the 3rd back. I'd even consider dropping all the way out of the first if the compensation was right.

Yeah, Woods is sort of a guy who played both DE and DT in college. His arms aren't super long (Under 32) so he might not be a fit as a 3-4 DE. But he did 2 gap stuff in college. His weight at 298 sort of fits the mold as a 3-4 DE. This guy was a lock top 5 pick before Clemson fell apart this year. I just wonder if there is any thought that this guy could be an impact 3-4 DE or if he really just doesn't fit the scheme.

I haven't really seen Faulk or Woods linked in terms of 30 visits or anything like that. If one of them pops up on the 30 visit list though you have to at least consider Dallas is looking for that type of guy early. Right now, I'd say most of the 3-4 DE types we have looked at are more day 3 guys.

Love to see it.

Everybody has been talking about trading up. There's been rumors of Cleveland being a likely target. But what if we traded down with Cleveland from 12? Let's say they get their OT Mauigoa at 6, then either Love or one of the WRs they covet is still there at 12. Or hell, maybe even Delane still sitting there might interest them.

Would you accept a drop from 12 to 24? Also picking up 39 and 70? It would be a bit of an overpay for them, but they are the ones moving up, and might be willing to accept that.

Then we'd be sitting with 20, 24, 39, 70, 112, 152, 177, 180, 218. I think I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Depends on who is there but if the top 6 are gone, definitely.

If everyone is gone except Delane I'd consider it as well, obviously if one of the higher ranked top 6 is there then probably not.

The only way I don't do it is if Reese, Bailey, or Styles is there. And I'd still hesitate turning that offer down. For example, you could still end up with somebody like Theineman or McNeil Warren at 20. Howell, Mesidor, Parker, etc... at 24. One of the top LBers at 39. Then straight BPA from then on out. Which could get you your CB or OT at 70. A RB at 112. Or whatever.

I would definitely do that. I think the more picks we have, the less likely we are to reach for players.

Top 3 + Downs I'm probably picking them, if it's Bain I'd have to really think about it, if it's Delane available only I'm probably doing it.

Hell yeah. Unless something crazy happens like Bailey or Reese falling for some nutty reason I would be all over that.

I ran a mock to offer that trade. Delane was still on the board, and Cleveland took him with 12. This is what I ended up with. Howell was still there, but I took Mesidor instead since he has been in the discussion this morning. (personally, I'd take Howell over Mesidor for earlier stated reasons)

Assuming the top defenders are all gone, I would LOVE it.

Yeah I think it takes our third just to move up unfortunately. And I'm not sure I'm prepared to do it. My hope is maybe 2 corners go before 12 now and it causes one of the other guys to fall to us. Probably Bain but I run that card up in a heart beat unless he has real issues like drugs or beating women.
I've also warmed to Bain. This team needs leaders, and playing in a 3-4 will only help him.

Anybody have thoughts on Murdock by the way. Interesting player considering how late he's projected to go.

I like him. Just seems to be an old school thumper that is always around the ball. Might never be a starter, but a solid backup that’s reliable.

Yeah I like him too. Hard to project because of the school but seems like a real player.

Never once have I said we can't. I've only said it's not as easy and automatic a thing to do as people like to portray.

But nice way to twist words to fit your narrative, I guess.
Fair enough, "can't" taken back.

I honestly think Dallas goes into nearly every draft with at least one trade up and trade down option in hand, respectively, and prolly for each section of the first round should they find themselves selecting there.

I remember 1991 when they traded up for the top spot using Pick 11, drafted Alvin Harper at pick 12, and then Drafted Kelvin Pritchett at Pick 20 with the clock running down and immediately trading him for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks.

I've never seen them caught in that situation again where they were forced to actually draft the player the other team wanted because the clock was running down.

I think they learned from that, except in 2002 when they almost had Minnesota leapfrog them in drafting order because it took so long to trade down from slot 6 to slot 8 and grab another 3rd round pick.
