2026 College Football Chatter

The NFL has 14 teams in a playoff, there's a significant difference between that and 24.

I assume the top 8 will get byes, which means without a bye you need to win 5 games to win it all, with a bye you need to win 4, which is an extra game than the NFL playoff format.

I'm just not even sure what the point of all of this is besides mindless profit chasing. 16 of the 24 teams will basically have to play 40% of a current college season to win the whole thing, so how many games are they playing before the playoff?

Sure as shit can't be 12 unless you want to see a bunch of slop shit in the early rounds because teams are down 25% of their roster. Either that or they're resting guys for 2-3 games at the end of the regular season.

This is just another step in college football's inevitable crash as it tries to mimic the NFL.

Right, but that's 14 teams in a 32 team league -- that's almost half the league right there.

So if you look at the total number of FBS participants, 24 isn't really as much overkill as some are making it out to be.

Again, if it were up to me I would go with 16, but I don't hate 24.

Feh. So many people were saying they shouldn't expand to 12 because no one outside of the top 2-3 teams have a chance.

And then the 10th seed made the championship game last year.
I didn't even want 12. I wanted 8.

Since they didn't get in, you could make the argument that Notre Dame was 13th last year and they were absolutely good enough to win it all.
